I agree, but it would have been better had this happened 4 years ago at the top of the market as the house is worth significantly less in today’s market.

Forgive me for not being a lawyer / economist, but what would happen if the contractor declared bankruptcy, & did it FAST...would that be an "easy-out" for them to not have to pay the wrongs homeowners?

YUP!....build a new house (fully furn.) w/ two new (choice of new 2011 cars)
and call it even...should make it OK.
