The gas masks are probably an insoluble problem, but the hygiene seems to be part of their religion. They are to take the turban off, and comb the hair out, twice a day.

I understand that the SAS doesn’t shave or cut their hair when they are in the field — a tradition that goes back to their days as the Long Range Desert Unit in WW-II.
