Yahoo News via NYT ^ | 6-13-09 | Mary Williams Walsh

*snip*

A.I.G. agents have told her that for therapy she should use her own health insurance, but it has a $3,000 deductible for mental health care.

"Why should we be paying out of pocket?" she said. "That's why they're there. They're the insurer."

What’s wrong with that woman ~ I’d still be doing cartwheels just glad to be alive.

I am glad they told her to pound sand.

Agree. The ‘Real’ reason for the Therapy is somewhere else no doubt. Maybe the Jet Crash is a more lucrative reason?

I’m sorry, how disgusting! They walk away from a jet crash and are whining about what they saw? Talk about the glass half full.

I am convinced that the passengers who put the blame on the stewardess for opening the back door really wanted to open the door to lawsuits against the airline.

Heard some msm’er whining that their laptops and cellphones were lost.

Each passenger was immediately given $5,000 for personal loss. They all got their luggage back, probably in better shape than when it went into the Hudson.

Would never want to go through what those passengers did... if I did and survived... I'd be wearing a t-shirt or lapel pin with "UNBREAKABLE" on it.

I owned you fate.

PTSD can be quite disabling - but $3,000? Cry me a river - actually - cry me a Hudson river!

What is really repugnant is the sense of entitlement in her statement.

A.I.G. has told Ms. Sosa and other passengers that it would pay for therapy, but only for three sessions.
"It's like telling me, 'We aren't responsible for this. This is your trauma. You deal with it,' " Ms. Sosa said.

Family of four at $5,000 each $20,000? I'd say AIG is 100% right.

/”They went through hell”?????

May I suggest they don’t even know what hell is. I’m sure this was shocking, even traumatic for the weaker minded ones, but hell???
And that $3000 copay? Hasn’t that already been covered, by the $5000 the insurance gave?

I thought AIG was balking at paying the $5,000?

"It's like telling me, 'We aren't responsible for this. This is your trauma. You deal with it,' " Ms. Sosa said.

Mrs. Sosa; while I am sorry for your trauma; it IS yours! Going up in an airplane; there are NO guarantees you will come down safely; if at all. If the alternatives here are not acceptable; then you should not fly.

In one exasperated conversation with an A.I.G. claims official, she invoked the taxpayer bailout, saying she doubted Congress and the Obama administration would approve of the stonewalling. The official "told me their division didn't get a cent from the bailout," she said.

Good grief. . .what IS this woman thinking? Never mind. . .seems she has a great deal to learn; hope she can handle the curve. An almost impossible task, of course, for a Liberal.

Not to mention; they left with their lives. Sad commentary here; but sure not all passengers responded with begrudging whines. . .

Agree, as well; and my first thought when reading this. This woman probably already had prior 'listings'; and prior visits. We have become; thanks to Liberal design; a nation of babies; whiners and thumbsuckers.

Again, I am referring to the %5,000 AIG was suppose to pay.

The article states that each passenger received $5000. That's $20,000 for the family, plus another $40,000 if they would sign a liability waiver.

Nothing more that greed.
