The United Bermuda Party today moved for a motion of no confidence against the Government led by Premier Ewart Brown.
Opposition leader Kim Swan proposed the motion in the House of Assembly this morning.
He said it was necessary as the Island is increasingly subject to the politics of one man rule.
Said Mr. Swan: Why have we moved a motion of no confidence? The public affairs of Bermuda are increasingly subject to the politics of one man rule under the Premier, Dr. Ewart Brown. We consider this unhealthy and not in Bermudas best interest.
This is not just about Uighurs in Bermuda, though that issue typifies a style of leadership that is reckless, autocratic and conducted with no sense of accountability to the people or, indeed, to Bermudas Constitution.
He continued: The motion reflects concerns held by the general public but also our long-standing concerns about a host of public issues that have not been well managed.
What we are seeking with this motion is a change of leadership for Bermuda not necessarily a change of government at this time but a change that can get this Island back on a steady course, where we no longer are distracted by the antics of one man, where we can collectively get together, roll up our sleeves and start working on solutions that are best for Bermuda.
Mr. Swan said the motion was drafted with reference to Section 59 of the Bermuda Constitution: Tenure of Office of the Premier and other Ministers.
Can we do this?
I wish!!!!!!!!!!!
Isn’t Bermuda where we’re sending our big bads?
Gonna send them back to Gitmo?
Coincidence that that took in our Wee-gar terrorists?
When someone says, “It’s not about (fill in the blank).”, you can be certain that it is about (fill in the blank). I guess the members of the Bermuda Assembly are hearing from their constituents that they are not happy with the Uighers being moved to Bermuda. I just wish the opposition would be honest enough to say, “We don’t want any Uighers here. If yoiu toss Dr. Brown and elect us, we will send the Uighers back to China where they belong. And no, we don’t give a fig is China imprisons them in a place worse than Gitmo.”
>He said it was necessary as the Island is increasingly subject to the politics of one man rule.<
That is hauntingly familiar to me...
But I just read an article here on FR strongly implying that Bermuda loves their new terrorist guests.
The “Premier” denied receiving any money for the 4 Gitmo Ughurs.
“One-man rule”?
That would explain how Obama and Premier Brown made their little deal so smoothly. I wonder what Brown’s swag bag was filled with?
Hmmmm, sounds familiar (US). I wonder where else (US) in the world they are (US) being increasingly subjected to (US) "the politics of one man rule" (US)???
“The foreign secretary, David Miliband, is understood to have had a tense telephone conversation with the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, about why London was not consulted about the resettlement of the four men, despite the fact that Britain has colonial powers over Bermuda’s foreign and security policy”
LOL
That was my first question too.
