When they were roundly and publicly criticized for not doing so. Without that pressure, NOW wouldn't have said squat (in this case).

I’m guessing it took their “executive committee” days of endless, all-night meetings and debate, weighing all the “pro and cons” before they actually decided to do this.
Note that they saw this as an opportunity to take a shot at conservatives...
Can you imagine the discussions inside headquarters when they were figuring out what to say...
Not HER .. we can’t defend HER .. oh wait, what if we take a cheap shot at people who aen;t even involved in this story - yeah that’s it.
It’s about time for sure, but they also had to add onto it that conservatives did the same and they should stop.
