After this week's flap between Sarah Palin and David Letterman, which started when Letterman cracked a joke about Palin's "slutty flight attendant look" and another about her daughter getting "knocked up" by New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, the National Organization of Women has condemned Letterman's jokes and is asking its supporters to write to CBS and voice criticism. "The sexualization of girls and women in the media is reaching new lows these days -- it is exploitative and has a negative effect on how all women and girls are perceived and how they view themselves," the group writes on its website, pointing to Letterman's jokes as an example. But, for NOW, it's not about politics: the group says conservatives have been just as guilty, over the years, of sexism. "NOW hopes that all the conservatives who are fired up about sexism in the media lately will join us in calling out sexism when it is directed at women who aren't professed conservatives," NOW writes. Despite Sarah Palin's ascendancy as a female vice presidential candidate, NOW did not support her. Far from it, in fact: NOW's political arm called Palin "a woman who opposes women's rights" and her nomination a sop to disappointed Hillary Clinton supporters.

Not only that, but she's doing it in an up-front, no nonsense way. There's no political double-speak we're used to hearing from politicians. Just plain old frank judgment. It's very refreshing. Her handling of Matt Lauer this morning was perfect.
NOW can say anything they want and the Rats will still know they love them and hat Palin.
If they had made the statement a couple days ago it might even seem sincere, but now it is just pro-forma.
Todd should still swing by the studio and serve Dave an Alaskan Knuckle Sandwich.
Call me skeptical. But Carrie Prejean and Juanita Brodderick didn’t have the following that Sarah Palin does.
While this is a good thing, I suspect NOW knows that not coming out to condemn Letterman would only accelerate their death spiral.
These hags are no better than Letterman they skirt around the subject first downing Sarah Palin..It does not matter if the child’s parents or conservatrive or liberal they should not be the brunt of some sick minded perverts fantasy..And I really think Letterman is a sick old pervert..

No argument. But the fact that they made the statement, especially when it involves someone they despise politically as they do Sarah Palin, is remarkable in-and-of itself. Of course it's pro-forma. But it did happen. And that shows the magnitude of Lechermann's misogynistic statements.
No, get the one RESPONSIBLE for its use. It’s ok to kick around possible material behind the scenes with a process for determining what’s acceptable and what’s not. Letterman is the one responsible for deciding whether material makes it from the back room to the airwaves, and knows how stuff plays to the audience.

Wow!
A stopped clock and all that....but good for them anyway.
Holy crap! The National Organization of Really Really Ugly Women finally stuck up for a Conservative? Break out the snow shovels in hell.
Could be. But suspicions aren't fact. And the fact is, Lechermann is now one of the few, ever, liberals treated as such by NOW. Regardless of intention, the act is far more damaging to him than it could be of benefit to them.
Perception is meaningful.
Is today April 1
Is this story from The Onion?
“..When did they wake up and decide to pretend to stand for something?”
I’m guessing it took their “executive committee” days of endless, all-night meetings and debate, weighing all the “pro and cons” before they actually decided to do this.
They should go as fast as their Medicare approved electric scooters will let them!
Blind pig, meet acorn.
