Good post. Kargil was a classic case of the deceptive dealings that the PakMil undertake. They train and arm irregulars to incite conflict while they deny involvement.

For the readers: Kashmir and Jammu are divided between India and Pakistan. Kargil is on the Indian side and commands the highway to the Indian controlled 11-20,000 foot elevation Siachen Glacier.

The IndMil leave every winter as it gets to 58 below and 35 feet of snow. In 1999, the PakMil concocted a scheme to occupy those posts with "freedom fighters", baiting the IndMil to retaliate with ground forces that would have to "illegally" go through an agreed demilitarized zone to get to the glacier.

The PakMil could then claim their uniformed military made a "defensive" response justifying their aggression. The PakMil theorized that with a full winter ahead, the IndMil wouldn't attack and thus cede the glacier to Pakistan.

India made a full attack, oops. The "freedom fighters" were vastly outgunned and began to freeze to death and started to bail out. The PakMil had early successes with Stinger missiles but soon took a fierce beating and withdrew.

The PakMil started the whole thing, and after the defeat, blamed the civilian government of the Sharif's, whom they hated. The political chaos gave Musharraf the opening for a coup d'etat, putting him in power.

Musharraf's duplicitous and conniving ways to expand Paki nationalism continued with the support of the Taliban. Instead, a newer and far richer "mark", America, became their target for money that we would give them to "fight" the Taliban, that they largely created.

We finally drew a line three months ago, that they either attack the Taliban, in earnest, or we would begin to occupy Pakistan and do it ourselves.

Pakistan history is a cascade of scheming militarism that (hopefully) is beginning it's end game. Stopping PakMil adventurism is the reason we are pushing so hard for a "hard" border separation and resolution of Jammu and Kashmir.

BTW, India and Pakistan are starting to work out their border differences, more than ever, because we are writing checks.

BUMP.

TEN years later, after Musharraf’s lies, Mahmoud Ahmed’s machinations, (the financier to the 911 crew, ssssshhhhh), and all the Paki High Command and that diarrhetic snake, Sharif, a part of the truth comes out.

Makes one want to read the original article.

Funny thing, many Paki mil types get along just fine with their Indian counterparts.

So, they didn’t even shoot the fighter down, lol!
