I heard that no passports are needed to travel between Bermuda and the United States.

Anybody know if this is correct?

I haven’t been there in a while, but last time I was we didn’t need one.

Not correct.

As of June 1, 2009:

The new passport rule is that in order to return to the U.S. from Canada, Mexico or the Caribbean by LAND or SEA, you will need to have a U.S. passport. If you’re just coming by land across the Canadian or Mexican border, you can instead use a passport card or an enhanced driver’s license available in a few states (and we don’t have those in Texas). You’ve had to have a passport to return from those nations by air since 2007, which makes it very strange that some of you (Ian) are still getting caught at the airport with no passport. Tsk. Get one!
