Senator John McCain, hurt during the presidential campaign by his differences with President Obama on healthcare, is trying to turn the tables.
McCain today criticized Obama's insistence on a public insurance option to compete directly with private insurers.
State run plans have driven the private insurers out
it ends up being more and in some cases prohibitively expensive, the former GOP presidential nominee said on Fox News Channel.
McCain also pointed out that Obama is at least open to considering a tax on employer-paid healthcare benefits to pay for expanding access -- an idea that the president eviscerated McCain about during the campaign.
. . . . .
Life isnt fair, elections have consequences and its interesting how theres been numerous shifts on the president's positions on a number of issues since the election, he added.

McCain would have continued our socialist, statist path only at a slightly lower speed...and Palin would have been tainted as a result.

Life's not fair? He's just figuring this all out now?
McCain seemed to feel that 2008 was his, that it was his time, and that the presidency was in the bag.
On the campaign trail, he never seemed to worked for it. There were stories of The McCain camp taking weekends off, the famous suspension of his campaign, etc. McCain never hustled... it was as though he thought he didn't have to since he'd waited patiently and had finally got to the front of the line. The resulting sense of entitlement was off-putting - I've often wondered how many voters stayed home due to McCain's churlish behavior.
Now he seems bitter about it, and all I can says is: join the club, Mr. McCain. Lots of us are bitter about the 2008 election.
