Ha! That description definitely fits with my experience—though I must say they didn’t on average seem very discriminating as to with whom they might conjugate or in any configuration congress!
It was merely aspirational.... and being world-historical genii, they understood the fundamental rule you get more if you settle for less. Success at congress, however, seemed to elude many of them irregardless of how low they set their pulchritude standards.
