What if this had been a 18 year old White male?
_______
I dunno, but I’m thinking that an 18 year old male (race absolutely inconsequential in this context) would raise the threat level a bit higher than a grannie did. Having trouble comparing the 2 situations.
The threat here is not to the officer. The threat is that the old lady is going to run out in the street and get hit by a car. At 60 mph, the car will not care if it is a healthy 18-year-old or a brittle 72-year-old, they're both just as dead.
But an 18-year-old would have been in a submission hold from the git-go, so he would probably be less of a threat to himself than Granny, whom the officer is trying to treat gently.
