You know why Pittsburgh is the most livable city?????
Because it is cheap. And outside the city, taxes are low.
Pittsburgh is nice, but NOT that special for a city. There are plenty of other cities that are much "better".
But you can buy a nice house on one average middle class income and not be taxed to death - so you have money to make life livable.

Yes. But it also has great sports teams, tons of culture, many excellent colleges and universities (Pitt, CMU, etc), a beautiful cityscape, and lots of beautiful rolling hills and country surrounding it. It has some of the most top-notch medical care in the country, thanks to UPMC.
The biggest downside is the weather. A lot of clouds and rain. But if you are not a sun worshipper, it's not a big deal.

We have a friend who taught in the Math dept at Carnegie Mellon. He was from FL but grew to love Pittsburgh. lol
We went to visit a couple times, but did not see the attraction.
