Kutcher outraged by conviction of US journalists in North Korea

Tuesday, June 9 10:30 am

world entertainment news WENN

Ashton Kutcher has demanded American politicians race to free two US journalists convicted for illegally entering North Korea, insisting Monday's shock news of their imprisonment is "a national crisis". Skip related content

The actor is among those outraged by reports Laura Ling and Euna Lee have been sentenced to 12 years behind bars.

The two Current TV reporters were found guilty of committing "a grave crime" against North Korea, and Kutcher took to his Twitter.com blog to appeal for help on the two journalists' behalf.

He writes, "This should be a national crisis... We have to demand that something be done."

I think of Team America World Police when I think of N. Korea, Al Gore, and Hollywood.

Ashton Kutcher, newly minted anti-communist. Very late, but welcome to the club.

This article must be satire. From what I have read, they snuck into NK and thought they could mingle for a story and got caught. When I visit other countries, I am pretty sure that I am supposed to follow their rules. I guess they got confused since we let anyone cross our border in the good old USA.

Don't get your hopes up. He is now ‘emotionally distraught.’:-) After the women are released in return for hefty cash ransom(economic aids,) he will go back to his pinko roots.

As far as I have heard, the North Koreans were up to their usual tricks of infiltrating into a neighboring country and kidnapping folks for political or financial reasons. I have heard no non-NK sources to the contrary.

Sure, whenever a few *special* Americans go sticking pins into rattlesnakes or make ill-advised expeditions to remote God-forsaken places or stumble in front of an Israeli bulldozer or get gored by a bull in Pamploma or succumb to the foreseeable consequences of some other idiotic misadventure then it's a national emergency.

When millions of normal Americans are assaulted on the streets and in their homes and workplaces by foreign invaders, or killed by terrorists, or kidnapped by savages while minding their own business, then it's just something we need to learn to live with.

That's generally the case, the US being the most notable exception.

Nobel Prize-Winner Al Gore may be completely silent as two of his employees are imprisoned in some North Korean gulag, but at least Ashton Kutcher is stepping up to the plate!

The fact that they were a foot taller than anybody else in the country never occured to them?
