I got to agree with wheresmycheckbarry?; Such jumping the fence moves when this happened in the mid 1990’s effectively ended the GOP revolution. In less than two years it had gone from Contract with America to Dem-Lite. A few party changers turned out positive like Reagan as an example. But the overall record isn't good. It's about like someone from Brady's going the NRA.

You have summed it up very well. With the Republicans in the majority, a bit of sanity could prevail. This enables the state gov’t to put up resistance to the governor and greatly empowers the R’s. The Dems were actually struggling with the low approval rating of the governor. Now, the rest of state gov’t can act as though they are not to blame and place the blame on the governor (or, so I predict) even though I have to defend him on that score. He was thrown into a mess not of his making and not easily corrected.

With the Dems in the majority, I would not have been surprised to see a bill requiring lead to be transformed into gold and another bill instituting declining caps on gravity. The gun bills, utterly ignoring that arms bearing and ownership are a basic human right recently affirmed by no less than the USSC, are stunning in arrogance and disregard for NYers. Of course, NY R’s are not what you would call conservative but they have a bit more common sense than NY D’s. It appears that NY R’s can also understand math a bit better than NY D’s.

Math is a particularly weak point of understanding in our gov’t at this point in history.

People outside NYS need to understand that the state of NYS is so far left that a conservative act in NYS would appear somewhat leftist by people in most other places. Unions are deeply placed in the structure of the NY system and attention to them and people required to belong to them is a necessity. The same goes for many other traditionally left groups. Other folks long ago began the exodus and the recent collapse of the financial industry has placed NYS in the position of being populated overwhelmingly by those who are on the receiving rather than producing end of the economy. Or, so it seems.

On a sidenote,, Futures trading in pitchforks and torches on the NT Mercantile Exchange have jumped dramatically since the O was sworn in. Bipartisan demand is said to be at unheard of levels. :-]

Beware of Greeks baring gifts.

Some Greeks look good when they “bare” their gifts :>)

Then again Skelos, a Greek American, can hopefully bear up to the pressure as the new Senate Boss.

Democrats appeared to have lost their majority in the New York State Senate on Monday, in a stunning and sudden reversal of fortunes for a party that has controlled the chamber for barely five months.
Thanks eleni121!

Well I thought Barak Hussein heralded the death knell for the GOP, especially in the Northeast!

These days I’ll take good news whenever I can get it, and even if there are some RINO’s in the NY R’s ranks I say so what, we now control the State Senate and the dems don’t. As far as I’m concerned it’s Obama’s fault!

“It is sort of a lose, lose situation.”

Skelos is a dedicated conservative, and that’s a fact.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm let’s see if the msm makes a big deal out of this like they did with the spectre defection.....

Local news in NY did interrupt with this breaking news but I doubt they'll be covering it come morning.
