WASHINGTON (AP) — A rare poll of Iranians says that few of them have favorable opinions of the United States, a view that hasn't changed much from before the election of President Barack Obama.

The survey, taken last month, shows that 29 percent of Iranians view the U.S. positively. In February 2008, a similar poll of Iranians showed 34 percent with favorable views of the U.S.

Periodically the pacifist/apologist types tell us how pro-American and pro-western most of the Iranian people really are. I never really bought it.

BFD
Few Americans see Iranians in a positive light either; especially those who’ve had the experience of actually meeting Iranians...

right, but if you offered them a ticket to the US right after they tell you they don’t like America, they’d gladly pack all their things and high tale it out of IRan to America.

That’s what the poll numbers suggested, but the reporter ignored.

Iranians (Middle and upper class, younger ones, and those with education) are overwheling pro-US. It’s true.

Of coure there re the inorant, superstitious, poor ones too, who buy into the islamic regime’s propaganda.

Overall Iranians are without a doubt more pro-US than any other Muslim nation. Forget about the Arabs, Pakistanis and Turks. Even though their regimes are “allied” with us, they hate us more than any Iranian could ever do.

A poll made in Iran as the one above is BS and not worth bothering about.

BTW the pacifist/apologist narrative is how much we deserve to be hated by the world for our “crimes”.

According to shari’a (Islamic law) any Muslim male who leaves Islam (apostatises)faces the death penalty. Since Obambi was muslim at one point in his life, is he by islamic law defined as an apostate?

Perhaps the Iranians think Obama is a Sunni.

A “poll” made in Iran? You know it takes some real guts and balls to state openly in Iran that you are pro-US. That’s not a poll, it’s BS.

Yes he is. And for some reason [of insanity and self-importance] Barry just doesn’t get it. Still thinks his make nice recreation of history will bring Muslims over to his side. Never going to happen.

Most Islamic jurisprudence would say NO, he is not an apostate, because he was a child when he converted from Islam.

Apostasy is committed when one, of age, knowingly leaves the faith. Punishment is death. This is Shariah.

How does one go about taking a public opinion poll in an Islamic theocracy like Iran? Can we take the results seriously? If we can, can we also reasonably expect that “favorable views of the US” are UNDERSTATED?

Suggest that your headline should read something like:

IRANIANS FAVORABILITY OF US DROPS 8.5 PERCENT UNDER OBAMA!!

Spot on. Not only is the entire concept of a "poll inside Iran" ridiculous, but note also the blatant bias in the headline!

It's being written as if it is expected that Obama would result in a more favorable image of the US among Iranians.

That's upside down.

The whole point of expressed Iranian pro-Americanism after 1979 has been because America was standing in opposition to the islamic regime and all it purposes to stand for. They liked us, because we were the nemesis of the regime.

Now Obama comes along and hugs the islamic regime (recognizing for the first time the "islamic republic", praising them, offering peace talks), and they expect a more favorable view?

Twisted.

They know Mr. Obama is a tower of jello.

After all, who does he frighten? Other than American taxpayers?

Gee, you mean that having the President of the United States say, “yes, you are right, America is evil,” doesn’t increase favorable views of the US in hostile foreign countries? Damn!!
