Laura explains Bush 'silence' Defends Cheney
Politico ^ | 6/08.09 | By CAROL E. LEE

Former first lady Laura Bush said while her husband, George W. Bush, does not think it’s appropriate for a former president to criticize his successor, she understands why former Vice President Dick Cheney has.

“That’s his right as a citizen of the U.S., and I think he also feels obligated and so I understand why he wants to speak out,” Bush said in an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America.” “On the other hand George feels like as a former president that he owes President Obama his silence on issues and that there’s no reason to second guess any decisions he makes.”

The former first lady also approves of Obama’s Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor, saying “she sounds like a very interesting and good nominee.”

“As a woman I’m proud that there might be another woman on the court,” Bush said. “So we’ll see what happens, but I wish her well.”

Asked about the infighting within the Republican Party, Bush said while she and former President Bush “talk about it a lot,” it’s “probably not that bad.”

“I think it’s just a very typical political cycle,” she said of the GOP’s shrinking status. “It’s like creative tension within a party for people to talk about what it is they – how they want to be represented

i find your post disgusting. Sniveling doesn’t become you

I wasn't the same who termed Ms. Michelle Obama, the one who once wasn't "proud of her country" until it nominated the annoited one, as "doing a great job!" Your little hero's spouse spoke those words...I don't believe Sonia Sotomayor is a good choice, Laura Bush does. Isn't your beef with her, rather than moi?

You've gotta be joking, Jack. No one had ever heard of Palin before McCain elevated her to stardom!

NO Susie, I am NOT joking. It was Billy Kristol who told lord McCain to pick Sarah, I heard him say so myself. But the male bull mentality did not unleash Sarah, he saw fit to 'hog' tie her to his middle of the road independent methodology.

And picking Sarah is probably the wisest decision lord McCain ever made it at least kept him from losing bigger than McGovern against Reagan.

And very well the so-called Gang of 14 might well serve us when Sonia Sotomayor comes to the dock!

NOW who is joking?

Oh I am firmly in control. YOU are the one who is violating your “Christian” faith principles. I was just trying to help make sure you really want to continue to lie and bear false witness. Since you continue to LIE about W then have it your way. I couldn’t care less about you or your soul since you do not live up to the principles you claim to hols dear. I have no use for hypocrites.

It's really curious to me how it has apparently become "reasonable" here on FR to blame President Bush's lack of "PR" for the election of Barack Obama, when it is clearly only minimally a factor in the midst of so many much more profound factors.

Curious.

Consider counseling. There is help available.

May the peace of God that passes all understanding be with you as you struggle to deal with your emotions and severe anger.

That's rich coming from you.

First it would of been an ad hominem attack if I had said "OWF is a 4 year old".

Second I have never professed to be a Christian so you judgment (judge not lest ye be judged) is wasted.

Third you were warned two years ago attacking me with your childish insults would have ramifications. Apparently you are a slow learner.

Your lies will all be exposed with facts. You said earlier you forgot how tough FR is. I warned you today crazy people do not last long here and since you feel the heat you are by definition crazy. So go away now and go play nice nice on WA. FR is a conservative site NOT a W kiss kiss site. We have had enough Bush and their supporters.

Fourth tell me WHERE on this thread I have LIED about W. You can't because everything I said about him is true. 30,000 US CITIZENS he SWORE to protect have been damaged or killed while W turned a blind eye to the illegal invasion.

In Biting the Hand That Feeds You, Congressman Steve King of Iowa noted:

What would the May 1, 2006, illegal immigration boycott look like without illegal immigration?

•The lives of 12 U.S. citizens would be saved who otherwise would die a violent death at the hands of murderous illegal aliens each day.

•Another 13 Americans would survive who are otherwise killed each day by uninsured drunk driving illegals.

•There would be no one to smuggle across our southern border the heroin, marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamines, which plague the United States, reducing the U.S. supply of methamphetamines that day, by 80%.

•Our hospital emergency rooms would not be flooded with everything from gunshot wounds, to anchor babies, to imported diseases, to hangnails, giving American citizens the day off from standing in line behind illegals.

•Eight American children would not suffer the horror as victims of sex crimes.

I'll bet you did not see Congressman King's comments on the evening news.

(Note: see Day Without Illegal Immigration for even more information on the illegal alien boycott.)

Are Congressman King's comments baseless rhetoric, hateful speech, or actual facts? The MSM (mainstream media) and proponents of illegal aliens consistently bombard us with reports of an individual illegal alien that has done what most legal immigrants do: work hard and succeed. However, what they rarely tell us about are any of the negative aspects of illegal immigration. This report will detail some of the dark, negative aspects of the impact of illegal aliens that you might not be aware of.

Let's start with a broad summary on how illegal immigration is or can affect you personally. Here are just some of the negative side affects of illegal immigration:

•easy conduit for terrorists entering the USA

•massive escalation in crime

•surge in foreign national prisoners to support for years

•increases Balkanization of US

•increases multiculturalism/segregation/divisiveness instead of the American melting pot

•increases desire for Aztlan (reclaiming SW states for Mexico)

•increasing number of traffic accidents

•main contributor to surging US population

•dramatic impact on society and infrastructure, including education

•destruction of fragile ecosystems in American SW

•main cause of emergency rooms and hospitals closing as well as service cut backs

•introduction of third world diseases

•increased welfare costs

•massive costs to society – over and above contributions

Do not confusion my disgust with you as my problem that is transference. YOU were warned and you insisted on starting up again. You really should understand my tag line.

So go away now and go play nice nice on WA. FR is a conservative site NOT a W kiss kiss site. We have had enough Bush and their supporters.

Fourth tell me WHERE on this thread I have LIED about W.

#1 - I don't remember who you are, and find it fascinating that you are obsessed with me. Your delusions are also fascinating.

#2 - I haven't told a single lie. I don't lie. Ever.

#3 - I didn't accuse you of lying about the President. I pointed out that you lied repeatedly about me - which you did.

I'm really sorry that you are so consumed with rage, but it won't help you if I acquiesce to your false accusations. It will only enable your emotional difficulties.

Once again - I'm sorry you're so angry. I can't help you with that, but the Lord can. That's the only help I can offer.

As for that "FR being tough" thing - it's not toughness to level wild and false accusations willy nilly. It only reveals a lack of ability to put together a cogent argument.

That's what I forgot about. Amid all the intelligent, rational folks here, there are far too many unhinged, angry folks who just make up things and distort the facts to suit their own emotional inadequacy.

You're one of them.

I should have followed my first instinct to ignore your ravings. I've wasted a lot of valuable time arguing with you.

Peace, child. Peace.

Or "Bless your heart."

My dear sweet, gentle, southern grandma (rest her soul) used to say that to me.

Only recently did I discover what it really means..."what an idiot"

I just watched this entire interview with Laura.

She was her typical, gracious, sweet, Southern Lady self.

It was lovely. Laura is a treasure!

I don't care if its Hillary or Laura, but, I think its rude to refer to the former First Lady by her last name only. They should be called 'former First Lady', or even Mrs. Bush, once its established that it is Laura and not Barbara.

Hillary of course would be Secretary of State since that is her new title, but, to persistently refer to Laura Bush as 'Bush' is just plain rude, imo.

The argument was made that Reagan spoke out. What we are talking about is Bush speaking out NOW and I explained that it would simply be urinating in a river of sewage.

People are condemning Bush now for not speaking out now. I simply feel that it is best left to Cheney. And, as I said, Bush will have a book coming out. That may be the most authoritative place for him to speak out, since it can’t be so easily twisted to suit the current media-designed dialogue.

I haven’t seen any media talking about WMD moved. I’d be interested in links, and certainly, I would hope that Bush extrapolates on these things in his book.

I would look forward to the ensuing media melee. For me, Laura Bush is a classy woman. I think Bush is smart in showing restraint right now.

And while the Great One is being invoked, you must understand that we have had NO ONE approaching his charisma, clarity of vision and ability to lead through magnificent communication of issues since.

But I doubt, due to the 11th commandment that he’d join a pile on against W.

Hellooo...? Who died and left you to decide what we should like and dislike, or to who/what to pray for? If you’d spent all the time you said you did reading those threads, you would’ve seen that a lot of us prayed for everything/everyone you listed here! A lot of people on here have loved ones “over there” in Iraq/Afghanistan, and they prayed for the troops, for the country, for the guidance of all leaders! (including Pres. Bush)

Hey guess what? Here’s something that may surprise you, but many of us also still pray for all that, including our new Pres., whether we like him or not! Why, because we’re Americans, and because it’s the right thing to do! Sheesh, you Bush-bashers never quit, do you?

Meowwww.... Kind of catty of you to say that of OhioWfan, isn't it? I could swear that some of you “bashers” are trying to drive people off here who don't agree with you! Well I'm afraid you didn't!

Hmmm.... I wonder who the 4-year-olds are on here now? What's the matter, don't like people interfering on what you think is your playground? Thought you drove all Bush supporters away, huh?

Never!!

Uh, maybe it’s because it’s you and some other posters who are starting with the “ad hominem attacks”? I get a kick out of some of you “other posters”! You go around picking fights, and thinking you’re sooo clever for doing it. Then someone calls you out on it, and you whine and blubber about being attacked!

Maybe you should try growing up and remembering your manners? You don’t represent “all the other” posters like you think you do! You think this board is your own playground, and you won’t let other people play if you can’t get your own way. So you and “all the other posters” try to run those people off. The only trouble is: It doesn’t work, and you pout and get bratty!

Do you realize just how immature some of YOUR comments are? How catty! When you don’t get what you want, you get really bratty, don’t you? Do you own this board? No? Then why don’t you follow your own advice?

You stomp your little feet and tell people to “shut up” when you don’t get your way! I know, maybe you could try showing some respect to people who don’t think like you, instead of playing the playground bully!

"what an idiot"

Or "You poor, ignorant thing," or "Did someone tell you that nonsense, or did you think of it yourself?" Or "You'll learn someday when you grow some smarts," etc.

"Bless your heart" -- eloquent but kindly putdown in three sweet words.
