It’s okay for North Korea to do this, but we can’t send stupid illegals here back to where they came from?

I guess I don’t see the problem here... You go to a country that has wacky justice and you voluntary subject your self to it... End of story. If you can’t do the time, don’t do the “crime”.

Every once in a while nasty regimes prop up the reputations of their drones in the west by creating a crisis- usually a hostage situation- so their preferred drone "can come to the rescue."

Ho hum. We KNEW they would go for the maximum sentence + alpha (add on a couple of extra years). This was predicted right here on FR on our beloved FR North Korea Threads just last week by Freeper TLR (who knows his stuff) and yours truly.
They will stay in a guest house in Pyongyang and not sent to the camp (as another Freeper was apt to say, "they will rattle (Obama's) cage to see if he gets the squirts"), now that they have ratcheted up attention. The sentence was pronounced by Kim Jong il, and merely rubber stamped and carried out by this "Central Court" which is nothing more than a Hollywood set in downtown Pyongyang. With these two Al Gore reporters up there, North Korea firmly has its grasping hands around the balls of Obama, and he is more or less beholden to them now. Even the emotionalism expressed here on FR and which will soon spread across the USA, all is bearing out the intricate, calculative strategy and is playing precisely into the the DPRK's hands. They create something of great value in doing this, and thus raise the stakes, and proliferate their aces that they hold against us in this game. Obama will have literally no choice but to capitulate, to enter bilateral talks (something they want), and to submit entirely. With a human face to it, with these liberal reporters now a So-ho and Berkeley cause celebre, the entire security of Japan and South Korea will be given a back seat while the case of these two are elevated. It is bad enough that dying Chia Pet is actually indulging in nuclear blackmail, now he and his co-horts are just adding another human, tabloid-ish face to it to get the attention of Joe Sixpack in the US who may well not know what a North Korea is but knows what a Lisa Ling is. You can count on the MSM to Stradivarius this thing to death; exactly what North Korea wants.
They are BRILLIANT (often). We are STUPID (often).

Mitch Koss was the camera man (3rd) with Ling and Lee in NK, but escaped back ito China, almost not being allowed back in. The Guide (4th) was held by Chinese authorities. These are the Vanguard of Current Connections of Koss, plus stories he has shown activity in for the past few months. You can see China is evident as is Naro wars.
These investigative journalists on the Vanguard side, if you take some time to track their assignments; are the "extreme sports" of the "investigative news world". MarianaVanZeller, for instance, rode the Death Train; ajbintl ( last online 5 months ago) had earlier snuck into North Korea. They are Reporters Without Borders.
Some have commented in effect.."Why is current suppressing stories about Euna Lee and Laura Ling? They have just been sentenced to 12 years of hard labor. I would appreciate it if Current gave some statement or...
Note: Koss went into Russia with Anderson Cooper back in the early 90's.

That group of young investigative journalists on the Vanguard side of Current tv are Reporters Without Borders. Ling had claimed that the Media was broken..so they go undercover in some of the most dangerous parts of the world where most would fear to tread to do documentaries. Note: Kim Jong's NK News service also "does Twitter"...up to speed on the 3G. Daily Kos had a brief blurb on that. Perhaps why there has been a black out on this story by Current plus the obvious potential of publicity once Ling and Lee return, present day pawns so Obama will take notice of "the little guy" and his favorite son next in line.

"North Korea refused to release them ahead of a court ruling because such a move could be seen as capitulating to the United States," said Hajime Izumi, professor of international relations and an expert on North Korea at the University of Shizuoka in Japan. But now "North Korea may release them on humanitarian grounds and demand the U.S. provide humanitarian aid in return," he said. "North Korea will certainly use the reporters as a bargaining chip in negotiations with the United States."Hmmm... decisions decisions. Do nothing and leave those Al Gore, anti-US military, liberal TV reporters in North Korean labor prisons, OR spring them (for a price!) and accordingly breathe new life into North Korea's horrid regime with hard cash (ransom) which they can use to continue to finance their nuclear development to threaten US military in the thousands here in Japan and South Korea. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

In the DPRK, there is no free media but the KWP-controlled KCNA (Korean Central News Agency), so you’ll never hear from them in the next twelve years.
