Why does anyone want Conan to fail? Seems to me he is pretty funny.

The zenith of Conan O'Brien's creative career was writing for The Simpsons. And his efforts there were passing fair; some of it was actually solid, cutting-edge humor. It was during that period that The Simpsons obtained its well-deserved reputation for having some of the best comedy writing on TV.

But that was a while back, and it's probably fair to say that it's all pretty much downhill from here for Conan. On the rare occasions I have had to watch Conan working in the late-night talk show format, I've gotten the impression he's pretty far out of his element. His best efforts occurred well in the past, behind the camera, and whatever he now does in front of the camera is occasionally painful to watch.

I also enjoy Conan. He used to be much more self-deprecating, which I find humorous.
