At a recent meeting with Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung (吳伯雄), Chinese President Hu Jintao (胡錦濤) and Taiwan Affairs Office Chairman Wang Yi (王毅), stated that the basis for mutual trust between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait was opposition to Taiwanese independence.

A “Perfect Storm” brewing in Asia???? Let’s see... Iran closing in on functional Nukes, North Korea getting even closer with a delivery system, and Taiwan is back at their independence movement which will certainly trigger China to take action if initiated....
Just think for a moment how full our hands would be.... and pray that it doesn’t happen.
Haven’t heard Obama state a policy on Taiwan. My thinking is if China should move against the island, Taiwan would bed on their own. He probably sees evil is the successful Taiwanese.
Taiwan might want to hold off until the 2012 election. No doubt they will be left on their own now.
Independence issue is used by Taiwanese politicians to get votes. Once in power, like Obama, their security experts sit them down and explain the realities of life. Suddenly only symbolic gestures are made and everyone backs down because they do not want to gamble on a war with China, a war the US does not want. The last pro independence Taiwanese government did more to humiliate the KMT than prepare for war with China.
