Some Myths About the Quranic Science Written by Mumin Salih Tuesday, 02 June 2009
Islamic Woodooo Recently, Muslims scholars started to falsely claim that the Quran foretold many scientific discoveries that were not known in its time. None of the Muslims’ claims stands scientific or logical analysis. One wonders how the Muslim scholars dare to make such claims despite the obvious contradiction between the Quran and science. The answer to this question is that Muslim scholars became alarmed during the last decades as an increasing number of ordinary Muslims started to learn modern science. To pre-empt any suspicion about the contradictions between the Quran and science, the Muslim scholars started to claim that the Quran actually was ahead of time in science but early Muslims didn’t understand it. The strategy of the Muslim scholars is deception, pure lies and word games.
This article investigates only four of the most common claims that Muslims make about the Quran and science. It often escapes the minds of the Muslims that the existence of only one error in the Quran is a proof that the book is not divine and that Islam is a hoax. 1. Splitting the moon
The claim: according to the Quran, Mohammed made the moon to split into two halves and then glued them together. Fourteen hundreds years later, Nasa confirmed that splitting.
This extraordinary claim is based on verse:
Q.54:1 “The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder”.
The verse describes an event that allegedly took place in Mecca when a few Meccan Arabs asked Mohammed to split the moon as a Najjarproof to them that he was a prophet. Mohammed simply made the moon split into two halves, one half on each side of the mountain Hira! However, this extraordinary cosmic event did not impress those Arabs who accused Mohammed of performing one of his magic tricks.
The irony is that the above myth was propagated by a Muslim scientist, more precisely a geologist, who was qualified in the UK! Dr. Zaghloul Al Najjar is an Egyptian who made a fortune from his appearances on Islamic TV channels. He is happy to turn his back to all that he learned at university and make the above false claim on Aljazeera television, the Islamists’ TV platform. For the sake of Allah, Dr. Al Najjar went one step further as he shamelessly lied to his audience and claimed that Nasa scientists have discovered that the moon was split into two halves and glued together!

The tactic employed by Muslim apologists is
(1) to read a simple passage from the Qur’an or Hadith,
(2) to twist and stretch the interpretation as far their imaginations will take them,
(3) to insert a bunch of scientific terminology into the interpretation, and
(4) to proclaim that there is absolutely no way an illiterate, seventh-century leader could have revealed all these scientific insights without the help of God. After hearing such arguments, Muslims typically stand in awe. Others stand there wondering, “Where did the passage say that?”
Consider what happens when a non-Muslim attempts to examine Muhammad’s claims. He opens the Qur’an and reads Surah 86, which declares that semen proceeds from an area between the ribs and the spine. Surely this would falsify the Muslim argument, wouldn’t it? Not at all! Our Muslim friends reply that, since the cells that ultimately form the genitals are a bit higher up during embryological development, there is nothing wrong with Muhammad’s claim (despite the fact that Muhammad clearly wasn’t talking about embryological development). Hence, a passage which is so clear that it should automatically falsify the Muslim claim turns out to be no problem whatsoever.
What does the Qur’an say about embryological development? According to 22:5, 23:12-14, 40:67, and 75:37-39, humans go through a blood clot stage in the womb. Since the developing embryo is never a blood clot, don’t we have a rather obvious scientific error here? “No!” replies the Muslim. “Since the fetus kind of looks like a clot of blood, the Qur’anic description is accurate.” Once again, a clear error presents no problem at all for the Muslim.
I wish it was satire then we could hope that we could work with these people but - Nope - unfortunately it’s not satire. We’re dealing with the insane.
This is why education in the Muslim world sucks—they don’t want people to actually LEARN things and become ENLIGHTENED and see what a fake Islam really is.
As a result, many Muslims are quite superstitious. Some Iraqis believed US tanks had forcefields around them and that if they wrapped their guns in aluminum they could penetrate the forcefield. Some Saudis believed that camel spiders were a plague sent by Allah to harass US troops in Iraq. Conspiracy theories are huge in the Arab world. Everything that goes wrong is immediately attributed to a conspiracy by the CIA and Mossad. Muslims educated in the West are sometimes seen as CIA/Mossad collaboraters.
Even though I was being facetious, I appreciate your response (great info) and will use it in the future. I have been known to debate with our muslim brethren about the wisdom of their religion and need all the ammo I can get. ;-)
The problem with the Muslim methodology is that it could be used to prove that any ancient figure was a prophet of God, especially when many ancients made claims which, unlike Muhammad’s, actually were scientifically accurate.
For instance, Thales of Miletus was able to predict a solar eclipse in 585 B.C. One could use this to argue that he must have been inspired by God. However, Thales also proclaimed that everything is composed of water, an idea that now seems absurd.
Nevertheless, by employing Islam’s Miracle of Reinterpretation, we can justify just about any scientific theory in history. For instance, if I were to use Muslim tactics in defending Thales’ position that everything is made of water, I could make the following argument:
The Prophet Thales claimed that everything is made of water. That’s obviously not true, but Thales was a prophet, so he couldn’t have been wrong. So what could he have meant? Well, consider the composition of water. It is made of hydrogen and oxygen. Most of the mass in the universe is in the form of hydrogen, and all living things use oxygen in some way. Thus, we have in Thales’ statement a full description of the universe—the non-living, predominantly hydrogen part, and the living, oxygen-using part!
But how could Thales have known these things unless God revealed them to him?
Truly this man must be a prophet!

From this we see, oh children of Allah, that waterboarding, for which the lying Crusaders claim credit, is actually another invention of Arab science!

The "clot" business is pretty consistent with the state of scientific knowledge in the 7th century.

Christians often like to claim that Muhammad is a false prophet; they often like to say that the only time Muhammad is mentioned in the Bible is as a false prophet. They then like to quote the passages which talks about the false prophets.
In this article of mine we shall examine the most common verses Christians bring, and from there we will see if the prophet Muhammad actually fits the description given by the Bible.
Here are the first passages Christians often bring up:
“Jesus answered them, ‘Watch out that no one misleads you. For many will come in my name, saying, “I am the Christ,” and they will mislead many ... Then if anyone says to you, “Look, here is the Christ!” or “There he is!” do not believe him. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. Remember, I have told you ahead of time.’” Matthew 24:4-5, 23-25
The prophet Muhammad certainly does not fit the description given by Jesus.
To start off, Jesus says that many will come IN MY NAME claiming I AM THE CHRIST. The prophet Muhammad never claimed he was the Christ, that title was never given to him in the Quran, the term Christ is only given to Jesus in the Quran. Secondly, Muhammad never came in Jesus’ name; Muhammad came for Allah’s cause, not Jesus’. So therefore as we already see, the prophet Muhammad does not match the description given by Jesus.
The next description Jesus gives is that the false prophet will perform several great signs and wonders. The prophet Muhammad does not fit this description neither.
In fact one of the main arguments Christians bring up against Muhammad, is that he did not perform great miracles and signs like the former prophets.”
Then the idiot proceeds to claim that the Pagans said big Mo didn’t perform any miracles, etc....

All through their history the koran was their miracle. It’s only through ‘recent study’ that they’ve decided that Big Mo did in fact perform miracles. Not just a couple either but many and a lot more impressive than any Jesus performed. I mean, Lo, he cut the moon in half and then glued it back together again, PBUH. How cool was that compared to loaves and fishes? I mean not even Humpity Dumpity was - put back together again so give the man his due.
A serious question: can anyone name one contribution of Islam to the world in any field, since 632 AD?
