A senior American official has spoken of "the myth of the special relationship" between the United States and Britain, arguing that Tony Blair got "nothing, no payback" for supporting President George W Bush in Iraq.

Foggy Bottom has been fully stocked with traitors since the 1930s....everything from Stalinists to closeted homosexuals, the DoS has been a playground for America’s self-loathers.

A curious business. I’ve been admiring Toby Harnden’s pieces on Obama. But this really seems mischievous as well as shoddy.

He is doing Obama’s work: Driving a wedge between two important allies at a key moment and making us all more vulnerable to our enemies.

You missed the point. It was a November 2006 article which quoted an unnamed State Dept official who we now know was Myer, the arrested traitor.

My bad. He was named. But now he’s been outed as a spy for the Cubans.

There never really has been a special relationship, or at least not one we've noticed.

Then he's not paying attention.

And he is working overtime trying to destroy it.

The fact is that he's angry that Blair backed Bush in Iraq and Afghanistan almost without hesitation, just like Reagan backed Thatcher during the Falklands dust-up. Without hesitation. There is a special relationship, but the America-loathers hate to admit it.

Yes, but also, as the “preface” linked above notes, he was a bit player, not a real state department official but some sort of minor academic.

I did miss the date on the article, however. You are right about that.

I’m in the same boat. Mr Harnden’s articles are what is mostly posted here on FR and I follow them because they usually do not follow the “bow before Obama” mentality of the AP/MSM in the US. It’s a non-story but worthy of AP stories circa 2003.

Great point. I’ve always thought, derived from those smarter than I, that the State Department is a WayBack machine still loaded with commies from Wilson’s and FDR’s time. Now, it’s nice to start to get an up-close-and-personal view of them in action. Bastards!

Senator Joseph McCarthy had all these anti-American infiltrator’s pegged a long time ago. Think how many Soviets he outted and was totally vindicated by the Venona Project. Of course the liberal elites will never let that bag out of the bag...

“liberals” = communists/socialists = demise of America

You’re exactly right. What the Left forgets to mention when they say McCarthy was on a ‘fishing expedition’ is that he was catching fish.

If nothing else, it was damaging to our relationship to our closest ally. I know the State Department has been full of libtards for as long as I can remember. But shouldn’t they have done SOMETHING to discipline or fire this guy?

You know, Marce, ya gotta hand it to the Cuban DGI.

This little commie-trained (East German) trained outfit has infiltrated the mighty CIA and the Leftie-Cookie Pushers over at State with amazing regularity. Not only that, they have repeatedly done so since before the Bay of Pigs, and at an amazingly high level.

It has always amazed me that Fidel doesn't get more credit, especially for his undoubted connection to the JFK hit.

Of course, as hardened spy-watchers, we do know that this Myers is the just the tip of another intelligence iceberg, don't we. The very fact that he is now caught, probably just means he is being traded as a pawn, a throwaway, having outlived his usefulness to his commie masters.

Question is, who's the top commie spy? I have a list....

The title you created

"Spy Myers urged Britain to decouple from US"

was not the original published title and had to be changed. Please do not create your own titles. Just use the published title found above the article at the source. Thanks.

You must be busy with this message as it's done regularly. It's uncalled for as my title was in the story as posted. Bored this weekend?

Oh, I see, you're just getting us ready for the iron-rule of obama.
