A Minnesota member of Congress is suggesting some Guantanamo Bay inmates should come to Rochester.
The high security prison on the east side of town has had some big name guestslike suspected Al-Gaeda terrorist Nuradin Abdi. He was charged with plotting to blow up an Ohio mall.
"I don't know what their guest list is out here, but I have got to believe they've had some pretty bad dudes out here as well," said Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede.
Brede says he got a call from Democrat Rep. Tim Walz this week. Walz, like President Barack Obama, wants to close Gitmo and get the detainees into U.S. prisons.
"From my standpoint, if this center can accommodate and have the security needed, I don't see a real issue," Brede said about the federal medical center which houses 1,000 prisoners in the city.
The center sits right across the street from a park. Most residents tell 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they never even notice it's there and never felt unsafe.
While there are concerns, most parents say theyre not too fearful about their childrens safety with the prison nearby.
But, I'd rather they weren't brought here at all....
Cool. They’ll be able to smoke hashish from the same hookah as Stuart Smalley.
Oops, I’m sorry, SENATOR Stuart Smalley.
What about Chicago Or DC (so Obaimi can vist them easier)?
The neighbors will get hurt ~ BAD!
The Regime knows that, but they don't care. I think Eric Holder, the Attorney General actually looks at the AlQaida detainees and sees some troops for his private army that will engage in hit jobs against those he perceives to be political enemies.
Think of Eric in a tan uniform, red arm bands, all that sort of stuff ~ he's doin' it.
How about a pig farm in Kenya? 0bammy wants them out of GITMO, so move them to his home.
Nah, San Francisco, let 'em feel the love.
Doesn’t MN or MI have a huge islamic population?
Hey the Mayo Clinic is in Rochester, MN and they have a lot of space they use for high-end art exhibits (in fact much of it from grateful Arab royalty). They could probably take down a few exhibits and open up some space for the Gitmo group.
I wonder what Archie Brooks thinks about this development...
You are right. In fact, They’ll get Perez Hilton while our boys-really Men- get Carrie Prejean. Equally satisfied
MN has a sizable Somali population. It shrinks and grows as they sneak back and forth from Africa and the Middle East where they get their terror training.....
You have the advantage of me, sir. I’m doing some reading up on him so I can determine context...
;-)
many Somali here in MPLS...lots of wealthy Muslims in Rochester...usually there to go to Mayo Clinic.
The GITMO gang will probably get their “univeral health care” there.
I propose to push them out the back of a C-17 flying at 30,000ft over the Atlantic.
Mount seats to a standard cargo pallet, and attach a drogue chute to the back and away they go.
Problem solved.
Plus since the Mayo Clinic is located there they can get the best health care for free.
Reverse trial balloon? Seems to me, if you wanted to make sure that they didn’t end up in your back hard, the best way to do so would be to float this idea..give the voters time to mobilize against it..

507-206-0643 mankato, mn office
walz’s local offices are already claiming this is a big “misunderstanding”
Ya sure you betcha walz you left winger.
Got it......
ACLU and fellow travelers want them on US soil so they can press for citizen's rights for these poor maligned human beings who only wanted to kill a few westerners, preferably Americans. On US soil, they are likely to flood our courts with lengthy and expensive trials on our dime and bring forth documents that should be classified, to say nothing of converting our hardest core prison population.
Can't some Republicans just get it about this and quit yammering about where and unequivically say no to them being housed inside the US?
