Porterville, a small Central Valley town, was the only city in California to formally endorse Proposition 8, the measure that banned gay marriage in California.
But now, some residents want the City Council to reverse course, arguing the endorsement has inflamed tension in Porterville.
The mayor isn't backing down, and it's possible Porterville will take a stand if gay marriage supporters place a measure on the ballot attempting to repeal. According to ABC30, residents spoke out at a council meeting this week:
The Porterville City Council got an earful from residents who said the council's public support of Prop 8, hurt them. Jamie Garza and her wife say the council's action was like declaring open season on gays in Porterville. They suffered verbal assaults, and tire slashing. John Coffee and his husband said harassment and intimidation have increased because of the council's vote. Pediatrician, Dr. Katherine Hall said the council's action was psychologically damaging to young gay people who already feel alienated.

We won.
They are a numerically miniscule, but vocal and active minority that must be put down, and out.
“...they live in a heterosexual society not the other way.”
Well, you see, there’s your problem, right there. They want it the other way. It’s not sufficient that we tolerate their aberrations and perversions... no, it’s full acceptance or nothing. (I’d offer them the nothing, if they keep on, but that’s just me...)
I don’t buy that for one minute. You know there are those that will incite especially the gay movement.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Rotflmao!
Don’t forget what the homosexuals did to all the hard working people who supported Prop 8. Remember there was a waitress who only made a small donation to Prop 8 and the homosexuals hounded her and got her fired. What they did to innocent people is despicable. It’s only common sense that there is going to be a backlash to their agenda of flaunting such a bizarre lifestyle.
It’s their harassment of individuals and businesses, forcing their agenda on kids and schools, and flagrantly obscene behavior in public that should be the reasons the keep their sore asses in the closet.
I used to not care one way or the other about them - live and let live. I didn’t seek them out and I didn’t avoid them. I was as sociable and polite with them as I was with anyone else. It was none of my business what they did in their bedrooms until they decided and established through their political agenda and behaviors that it’s my business whether I like it or not. Now I don’t care if they all drop dead from AIDS. The sight of them disgusts to me now.
Are there so many queers there that they pose a danger, and must be appeased?
Agree 100% now. Fifteen years ago my thought was that they should show a little more self-control so they didn’t end up dead. Now I hope their every night is an orgy of unknowns.
You have a point. In the early 1980’s, Jerry Falwell started the Moral Majority. Essentially it lives on today in many people’s lives. Most people exercise and follow moral and conservation values in day to day segments of their lives.
However, there is a group I call the “Immoral Minority”. They are for things like gay marriage, gay rights, sexual promiscuity, etc. While small, this group has a very LOUD voice and is in positions to readily promote its aggenda (i.e.: MSM, Hollywood, music). Essentially, you have 5 percent of the population acting and sounding like it is 55 percent of the population. Take this news story. The only “tension” in Porterville is probably with a handful of extremists yet they make it sound that over half the city is effected.
Goodness gwaicious!
More jobs opening up for them though:
The ‘jamming’ is just beginning.

Porterville is a whopping 4.88 miles wide x 3.22 miles high. These four are prolly the only gays in town.
“The Porterville City Council got an earful from residents who said the council’s public support of Prop 8, hurt them.”
We, uh, won. We’re, uh, going to, uh, trump you on that.
I was thinking the same thing. They are such a bunch of egotists.
