We meet at a time of tension between the United States and Muslims around the world — tension rooted in historical forces that go beyond any current policy debate. The relationship between Islam and the West includes centuries of co-existence and cooperation, but also conflict and religious wars. More recently, tension has been fed by colonialism [emphasis mine] that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold War in which Muslim-majority countries were too often treated as proxies [emphasis mine] without regard to their own aspirations.

Barry never misses the opportunity to apologize, directly or other wise.

He acknowledges their right to be angry by virtue of what's been done to them. First, he slips smoothly from the tension between Islam and the US to oppression of colonialism. Last time I read my history, the US had missed out on the Middle East colonies. Second, during the Cold War we used them as toys on a chess board. Go back and study your history Barry and you'll see that they did a pretty good job of playing the US off against the Soviets and vice versa.

This man is pathetic.

‘He acknowledges their right to be angry by virtue of what’s been done to them. “

Saul Alinsky’s bell is ringing. That was his technique to organize the poor in poor neighborhoods, to give them justification to vent their anger, and a venue to do so. He’d spend a while making sure that anger was stoked, justified or not.
