I remember him in an interview saying that he was an actor, not a martial artist, and that the fights were choreographed and not real, etc. It's unfortunate that the martial arts community was dishonored because of the behavior of a sham. Or as Ham Sandwich said to Fluke Skystalker, "Shut up, Kid. It's only a movie."
Yes, I remember that about him as well. However, most people never knew that. They simply remembered Kwai Chang Caine and labled the entire martial arts community as similar druggies after that house-trashing episode brought his drug usage to light. Being a martial artist at the time, and going on to teach the art a few years later, I and many others had to deal with the negative image he presented as a result for years afterwards.
