My initial reaction to the speech is anger. Anger that the left has so undermined George Bush for eight years that the platitudes expressed by Barack Obama today are considered fresh and as such are ballyhooed throughout the world in various languages and received with a standing ovation. George Bush said essentially the same thing in the wake of 9/11.

If Obama's bromides are worthy of applause today why did the left not applaud them when George Bush said them? If the time to start is now why did the left to sabotage George Bush eight years ago?

I am angry that the left is so miserable and selfish that they would squander American prestige, our soldiers lives, hundreds of billions of dollars, so that they can put their own man in.

I also heard the words of Bush in this speech, words that were totally ignored when he spoke to world audiences.
