Theres a church in Valley Station that is promoting Independence Day by encouraging its members to bring a gun to church, and to bring a friend with a gun to church. You can enter a raffle, for just a dollar, to win your very own handgun. And local gun shops are invited to come, TO CHURCH, and stand before the congregation and do a commercial about their stores.
Now all this activity is being promoted through a mail campaign that an alert South End reader told us about. You can find details on the New Bethel Church website.
Is anyone else out there disgusted by this?
New Bethel Church, on Valley Station Road, is calling the June 27 event Open Carry Celebration in celebration of the 1st and 2nd amendments. If you go, youre supposed to openly carry you sidearm, securely in a holster. Oh, youre supposed to leave the ammo at home. Wonder whos gonna be checking the guns at the door to make sure no one brings a loaded weapon?
Last week, a doctor was shot while attending church services in Wichita. There have been church shootings throughout the country. But at New Bethel, Pastor Ken Pagano thinks its a good idea to encourage members to bring guns to church.
Psalm 20:7
Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God
Samuel 17:47
And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into our hands.
Isaiah 8:13
Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
Luke 12:5-6
And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Too bad the nitwits who wrote this article have no idea it’s perfectly legal and guaranteed by the Constitution to carry openly in KY.
Cripes, I used to keep a shotgun in my high school locker and would go hunting after school. Wasn’t a big deal at all.
theres the only problem I see with the doctrine...
It sure would be nice to live in a place like that.
We're 35 miles from the nearest town with law enforcement officers.
Nevertheless, our crime rate is zero.
I've heard some people drink a little too much of their homemade wine,
but that's about it.
Civilized people don't need law enforcement.
