Is This THe Same guy?

“Ronald Reagan’s signing off on legislation easing mortgage requirements back in 1982 pales in comparison to the damage wrought fifteen years later by a cabal of powerful Democrats and Republicans who enabled the wave of newfangled financial gimmicks that resulted in the economic collapse. Reagan didn’t do it, but Clinton-era Treasury Secretaries Robert Rubin and Lawrence Summers, now a top economic adviser in the Obama White House, did. They, along with then-Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan and Republican congressional leaders James Leach and Phil Gramm, blocked any effective regulation of the over-the-counter derivatives that turned into the toxic assets now being paid for with tax dollars. “

I stand corrected and still call the agency useless

It probably does a good job instilling left-wing values in everything it touches, so the lefties consider NEH far from useless.

It all depends on your perspective.

Look at the list of the NEH's illustrious former chairmen/chairwomen and see how many names you recognize. Not many, right?

Academics are for the most part left-of-center politically. The NEH has been, with only a few exceptions, run by academics since its founding during LBJ's administration. Were its existence threatened (unlikely in today's environment) there would be howls of protest echoing across the land, even from among so-called conservatives like the aforementioned William J. Bennett.

The best we can hope for is a complete idiot running the agency, the better to ridicule its mission. Unfortunately, that is not happening this time around.

“It probably does a good job instilling left-wing values in everything it touches...”

I think that is its mission.

Money passes through the NEH like milk though a baby, with the same result.

Leach has always been a RINO, but he has always been an honest RINO stabbing you in the front, not the back and not by surprise. And I don’t think anyone ever was able to pin anything corrupt on him, just wrong policy decisions. I was glad when he got redistricted out of my district. If all the liberals and RINOs were as open and honest as Leach the world wouldn’t be cured, but it would be a significant improvement. Plus Leach might actually quit, again, in response to Presidential corruption if Ø gets too blatant, something conspicuously absent during the Clinton years and the Obama (seems like) ‘years’ other than Judd Gregg’s ‘pre-quit.’ I can’t think of any other appointee with that potential. And because of Leach’s history there would almost have to be some coverage if he quit. I know this is only small hope, but at least it is that.

Hardly. Instead look for more on-stage nipple-piercings in celebration of enlightened, male, performance art.

Let the Dems siphon off the RINOs. If we can just get the Republican party to turn right...
