Ark. Killing of Soldiers Shows Why Terror Isn't a Police Matter

The heinous act of Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 24, formerly Carlos Leon Bledsoe, a prison convert to Islam, is a perfect example of why terrorism cannot be fought using police procedures and is more effectively fought under military auspices. The fact that Muhammad was under FBI surveillance and already under suspicion of possible terrorist activities but got away with murdering one soldier and seriously injuring another is a lesson of how police procedures are prone to failure in stopping terrorism.

Many on the left in America lambasted President Bush for utilizing military tribunals and for his contention that the capture of foreign terrorists was a military matter. They said that these terrorist's "civil rights" were being violated by the quick military actions and they abhorred the limited availability to legal council such procedures offered to suspects. The solution the left commonly offers is for the full American justice system to be placed at the disposal of foreign terror suspects. The left claims that doing so makes our own actions "consistent" with our traditions of justice.

However, to be consistent with our own civil court system, authorities are required to investigate, gather evidence, vet that evidence with legal council, apply for warrants through judges, and ultimately arrest and try suspects. This is an expensive and time consuming process during which time any number of leaks of information to the press and breakdowns of the system can occur. Sadly, we see these failures in the shooting incident in Arkansas.

Has Obama expressed his outrage about these murders yet?

Just saying.

As commander in chief he lost his own men - I am unaware of any relationship with Tiller that would require a comment.

Comrade Tiller. That’s all that counts.

Have you submitted that question to the White House website yet?

I have, and I suggest others do the same.

Under the new American regime, rounding up terrorists and putting them away somewhere they can’t kill is considered poopoo no-no.

We’re in big trouble with children - that is, biological adults with children’s minds - running the nation.

Basically - we’re screwed. Thw word’s slowly getting around that the U.S. can be had, and we’re gonna get had - in a big, big way. Everyone on Planet Earth who’s been gunning for us for the past twenty or thirty years, resenting our wealth and our freedom and our success, is gonna show up with knives drawn, and our government protectors will simply be sitting around with their thumbs up their butts singing “Kumbaya.”

Like I said - we’re screwed. We’re SOOOOOO screwed.

Good idea. I submitted my comment:
Why hasn't the president expressed his outrage regarding the murder of a serviceman by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad? After all, the president has expressed his outrage over the murder of a notorious abortionist, over whom he has no jurisdiction.

Those servicemen’s main sin is that they didn’t murder any babies that morning before showing up at the recruiting office. If they had, the O would be in mourning for them.

"Has Holder ordered protection for all militiary recruiting offices?"

No need to. The recruiting offices is not made up of namby pamby girly men. Simply allow the recruiters their constitutional right to be armed and they'll draw a weapon from an armory or bring their own firearms to work.

Holder did order protection for abortion clinics after the death of Tiller. I was being sarcastic.

He was arrested within minutes...

Were there eyes on him at the time? Was the arrest by police or Feds? That will tell us as to whether this was being treated as a law enforcement problem or as a terrorist threat and in either respect will validate Dick Cheney's assertion that we will be less safe under an Obama administration.

"I was being sarcastic."

I knew that and why you said it. However, its a fair point and I was also being somewhat sarcastic in my reply. Sometimes it's hard to get your point across in writing, especially sarcasm.... : )
