I want GM to Fail!

Today I commited to the largest purchase of my entire life. The only problem was that I didn’t even have a say in it. I am now the not so proud owner of Government Motors (GM) and quite frankly I think I could have done a little better with my $10.5 billion dollars. As though we needed anymore proof that the Conservative party, led by Stephen Harper, has redefined conservatism in Canada as a light form of liberalism Harper has commited to, if not the largest, one of the largest government bailouts in Canadian history and quite frankly Canadians had absolutely no say (unless you are apart of the CAW). I officially see no reason to support the Conservative Party of Canada over the Liberal party (or the NDP for that matter).

Canadians must know that there is a big fraud afoot when none of the parties disagree in the least with one of the biggest decisions in recent memory for a Canadian minority government. There is effectively no opposition party on this issue and yet it seems clear to me that the majority of Canadians are completely against the idea of running Government Motors (GM). Not only are Canadians now part owners of GM but we more than likely have zero say in the direction of the company. No say over the cars it makes, no say over dealership and/or manuafacturing closings and very little say over the final look of our new company.

I want GM to Fail!

In my opinion, GM has already failed, and when the government contribution to GM's future vehicle production and business decisions become clear to everyone, they will super fail. I will enjoy watching it happen. Buh-Bye welfare motors and their employees. Decisions have consequences.

I won’t ever buy a GM or Chrysler product.

No sense paying for the same car twice.

Yup. The Canadian Feds and the Ontario provincial government are partnering with the socialist down south. We will be on the hook for $10.5 billion (at least. Estimates as high as 12.5). The worst part of it is there is a currently a conservative government (minority government) in Canada.

Not going to happen. Instead, they’ll offer the drones incentives to get rid of their existing cars and buy GM cars. All those financial geniuses who run around in the spring exclaiming, “I made out great this year on my taxes!” when the feds return their money, are going to rush to the nearest RAT contributor GM dealer so they can make out equally great on an Obamamobile.

ZX,

With the disassembling of GM and the layoffs associates with it, I can't see that adding to a positive brand image, as this happens in front of the eyes of the American car buying public in the next few months. Add to that what it will do to unemployment rates.

The Volt is a game changer IMHO, but what other "product" does GM have coming down the pike that will excite potential customers?

Juxtapose that with Mulally bringing the entire Ford Euro Car line here, The "Transit Connect" is here and the "Fiesta" will be here in the fall followed by other in the next 3 years. How does GM trump all this new product? The Chrysler "Fiat 500", it will take them 2 to 3 years to federalize it, day late, dollar short.

I have friends, neighbors and acquaintances that are GM-er's it pains me to say it because people I know will be effected, but quite frankly, I can't see this transition working, sad to say, I see it failing as well....

Not gonna work. Financially, the #s don't work out anywhere close to providing enough "incentive" for people to buy a piece of crap. The Yugo proved that.

Years ago, I worked in a grocery store which had its own brand of butter---beautifully packaged and cheap---but it was terrible. No matter how cheap it got or how we set up the displays, the butter wouldn't sell. Obamamobiles will be the same.

QUESTION: Will the UAW destroy Ford?

Since the UAW is part owner of the competing GM and Chrysler.....they have a vested interest to cause trouble for Ford.

Over the past fifteen years, between my wife and I, we have purchased four Suburbans and three Silverados. But, no more. I recently bought my wife a Toyota Avalon and my two teenage daughters VW’s. I am finished for good with Government Motors, Chrysler and perhaps Ford. I may or may not consider an F-150 for my next purchase. Just depends on what transpires between now and then.

Both the UAW and the governments of the US and Canada seem to have at least some motive for Ford to join the socialist auto empire (I hope they can withstand the pressure). Governments never consider the unintended consequences. Ford failing will probably mean that any jobs that are created by GM and Chysler will be lost by Ford. This reminds me of the goverments “credits” to taxpayers for buying Yaris’ a few years ago (in Canada). It may have worked but as a result of buying Yaris’ people were no longer buying GM and Chysler cars. So you see that within only a few years the government has completely reversed course and is not saying, “Please buy a GM car”. No doubt “credits” will be given to anyone who buys GM or Chysler which of course is a direct attack on Ford. If it ends up working Ford will be in big trouble. And on and on the cycle goes

This policy is a horrible one

I’ll not consider buying another GM product until after 0’b produces a valid birth cert.

Neither will I - and I'm in the market for a car right now. These fools shut down dealers in red counties where the most likely truck and SUV purchasers were. The more Obama acts like Chavez, the more I pray he fails. 4 years will be quite enough. By then people will be shouting... No We Shouldn't Have instead of yes we can.
