Atlanta - “The decision by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to deny preclearance of Georgia’s already implemented citizenship verification process shows a shocking disregard for the integrity of our elections. With this decision, DOJ has now barred Georgia from continuing the citizenship verification program that DOJ lawyers helped to craft. DOJ’s decision also nullifies the orders of two federal courts directing Georgia to implement the procedure for the 2008 general election. The decision comes seven months after Georgia requested an expedited review of the preclearance submission.

I NEVER thought I would say this.

Maybe we should think about moving to Oklahoma, now?

Georgia State Rights, Cleaning up Voter Registration

How is it we would allow the federal government to overrule the states right to determine voter registrations? I do not see this power in the Constitution so the state has the right to determine what is right for it. I fully expect the state leadership, which you are a vital part of to push this issue to the forefront and ensure the federal government is put back into its proper place.
The two amendments to the Constitution that have anything to do with voters are Amendment 15 (Race No Bar to Vote) and Amendment 24 (Poll Tax Barred). Both of these have nothing to do with voter registration validations.
The voter rights act has been brought up as a reason for this unacceptable hold on Georgia’s cleaning up of voter registration. The voter right act is not the constitution and since it is not the federal government has No Power to construe it any way it wants. As long as the state work within the guidelines of amendment’s 15 and 24 they are free to ensure voter registrations are legitimate.
The reason we have states was so that each area (state) could make its own laws and rules based on Constitutional guidelines. This way the states had the flexibility to let “We the People” determine what was important in our local areas and thus make laws that fit our local needs in hopes to attract or dissuade others with different goals.
By allowing non-citizens and fraudulent votes my faith in the government and rights as a citizen are being violated. So I take this as a personal insult from those whom were elected to protect and defend my rights, which is why I am asking you to standup and sound off on this.
