Come on, really, the gunman hardly believed he was gonna get away with it! He did it with his convictions whether they were right or wrong.
But if he had carried this out somewhere else, perhaps he could have gotten away with it. He probably did want the publicity, and he probably knew it would hurt the pro-lifers. Just guessing here -
