I’m not sure how the left will respond to this killing. Yes, my first thought, too, is that this is a golden opportunity to demonize abortion clinic bombers and shooters—all three or four of them—just as they did with the OKC bomber a while ago with Janet Napolitano’s demonize-the-right memo.

On the other hand, the media have been virtually silent so far, and I don’t see it on Drudge, although it would seem to be big news.

Two possible reasons: they are waiting to see if the killer is a designated propaganda opportunity: male, white, Christian, maybe a veteran, and a pro-lifer. Or is it possibly some other kind of guy.

The second reason is that, although one should not speak ill about the dead, Tiller was a vile excuse for a human being. He was a cold-blooded killer, who frequently violated the law as well as the moral law. Do they really want to hold Tiller up as their new saint? He might not serve their purpose very well if people take a close look at him. Aside from his criminal acts and his virtual bribery of Governor Sebelius and others.

"...his virtual bribery of Governor Sebelius and others."

More info on that statement?

One of the hidden secrets of the pro-abortion movement is that even the most ardent supporters of abortion don’t really like abortionists that much.

They might be lavished with public praise when expedient and necessary, but privately they’re often regarded as vulgar hirelings. This is especially true within the medical profession, where abortionists are considered the lowest of the low, even by pro-abortion physicians, drawn from the ranks of the incompetent and the unstable.

Kathleen Sebelius and Barack Obama might have been happy to take George Tiller’s money and indulge him in some public flattery, but they probably didn’t respect the man at all.

Your second reason is possible and the best case scenario for the pro-life movement out of all this. But even so, it would require honesty from the MSM to point out in a way that grabs people’s attention how vile Tiller was. Most people depend on headlines and soundbites and they will simply say “abortionist killed.” I’m not very hopeful that this will not be used against the pro-life movement in a BIG way, in a Reichstag fire way.

But perhaps it won’t.
