It sounds like you are describing people with physical abnormalities. I don’t think we are talking about the same thing. I was speaking of people who were physically of one sex and then decided at some time that they wanted to become the opposite sex. For instance, there was a notorious case in Massachusetts of a man who murdered his wife then decided he wanted to become a woman. This man was married to a woman, and I believe that he had children so it seems that he was a man like any other man but then decided late into his life that he wanted to be a woman. This doesn’t sound like he is someone who was born with a physical abnormality.
The trouble is, as I’ve said, that every person presenting with the symptoms of what we call “transsexuality” has shown the same pattern.
There are psychological conditions that appear superficially similar, but the diagnostic criteria are completely different. They’re easily distinguished. Basically, the psychotics are, well, psychotic, while the transsexuals are obviously sane in all other ways.
Of children who exhibit cross-gendered behaviour, only 1 in 3 are transsexual. The rest grow up to be gay though, indicating a biological cause for this minority of gay people. This is intractable, no amount of beatings, electroshocks, or other “aversion therapies” changes this.
As for the person who murdered their wife, then decided to “become a woman”, I’m maybe a little cruel. I say let him. Castrate him, and give him female hormones. Take MRI scans over years and you’ll be able to see the male neurology progressively degenerate under those conditions. You’ll see the brain shrink. Put him on 24 hour suicide watch though, the discomfort is reportedly extreme.
50% of transgendered children self-harm before age 20. It’s probable that the suicide rate for transgendered people who don’t at least get endocrinal correction is over 50%. To deliberately make someone transsexual would be cruel and unusual punishment. But fitting if they ask for it.
