If Bush had done this it would be a punchline for years.

For the apologists on this thread, let's put it this way:

There are 16 agencies in the USA's intelligence community... you're telling me that somebody that has supposedly served as a US Senator, that markets himself as a deep thinking know-it-all, and supposedly serves as president that cares deeply for his federal workforce does not recognize the name of one of his country's intelligence agencies?

If you grant him that, the fact remains that he's such a dolt that he lacks the sense to feign familiarity with the organization. He was on a photo op, with the press in tow. He's such a fricking moron that he didn't recognize that he was betraying the truth of how utterly stupid and unfocused he is.

The problem with Obama's lack of communication skills shows he is first, last and always interested in HIMSELF. The words only flow when he's pulling out the "My old man..." crap, which he does at some point in every speech or communication lasting more than half a minute.

People who speak a lot but can't communicate clearly are interested only in themselves.

Redux of this Al Gore moment in 1993:

During January 17, 1993 pre-Inaugural tour of Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home, shown live by C-SPAN, Al Gore asks of busts of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Marquis de Lafayette: "Who are these people?" Also along on the tour: wife Tipper as well as Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Obama, 2009:

So explain to me exactly what this National Geospatial...uh...

No, but Zero reflexively bowed to the Burger King, who had to tell him he wasn't the king of Saudi Arabia.

What? You don’t know about NGIA. You would if you shopped for groceries in Nebraska.

I know about NGIA because we used to sell technology to NRO.

Oh, I agree with you. He is the president, he was a 1/3rd term Senator. He should know. I also did know that there are 16 intelligence agencies in the Federal Government, I couldn't name all of them but I do remember hearing there where 16. Henkster still has a valid point. There seemingly endless amounts of government agencies, bureaucracies, & Czaracracies, O’Bummer just named another Czar to head up another committee/subcommittee/ quasi department for cyberspace. Still 16 agencies for intelligence gathering seems a bit much. I can’t imagine why at least a few of them couldn't be consolidated. At least we could then get rid of a couple secretaries or managers and save just a couple of $ and quite frankly be a little more streamlined and efficient.

Have it your way, have it your way...

Firefly can’t put a simple sentence together even at a burger joint unless he is on the prompter.

What a genius!

Am sure by the end of ‘his’ day; Obama had this Agency under his ‘own surveillance’.

NGA is a consolidation of various groups. As a result of tyhe Homeland Security Act all imiage analysts from all, at least all DOD, agencies were placed under a single head, NGA. They still work and perform work for the auspicies of the Army, Navy, Air Force, etc where they worked before the consolidation but now must suffer the consequences of two bosses whose requirements are often at odds with each other. Kind of a bastard stepchild arrangement. Effects the quality of training, funding, advancement possibilities, etc. For example: NGA controls your promotion but has NGA training goals and funds that training while you are trying to do the work required to fufill your mission to the Army which NGA doesn’t feel is a part of it’s training requirements and the Army can’t fund because of fund shortage and you really don’t work for them but for NGA. NGA sees you as working somewhere else not at the “Head Shed”. Not the best situation in the world for the individual.
