From the article: We should be on our knees praising Colin Powell for declaring that he has not, despite the desire of some narrow and vocal forces within the GOP, left the party. Because if he does, we might as well turn the lights out.

Why? Colin Powell has one vote, which he chose to give to the Democrat in the last election.

Powell’s been doing his best to turn the lights off.

I believe the only reason he ever identified with the Republican Party was for his own self-promotion and to rake in large speaking fees.

He’s despicable.

I threw up at the statement about Powell.

Doesn’t anybody in the repub party remember what a grand stander Powell was .. going off the reservation and trying to run the State Dept by himself, as if Bush had nothing to say about it. Then, Bush did the right thing and made Powell correct what he had done wrong.

I’m sure Powell was pretty angry over that .. but he still didn’t learn .. and I believe he tried it a couple more times.

Then, the complete betrayal .. Powell’s assistant (Armitage) leaked the name of Valerie Pflame, and then refused to reveal that info and allowed Cheney’s staff member to be charged with the crime. To me .. THIS WAS UNFORGIVABLE! And .. I will always believe Powell was hoping they could pin it on Cheney.

But .. it was Powell’s payback because Bush would not listen to Powell’s cowardly approach to Iraq, and instead listened to Cheney. Powell hates Cheney.
