Circuit Court Judge Dennis M. Sweeney on Thursday dismissed four perjury charges and one misconduct charge against Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon. Seven other criminal charges against the mayor, including accusations that she stole gift cards intended for the needy, still stand.

The judge also dismissed the entire bribery case against City Councilwoman Helen L. Holton.

The councilwoman responded in an e-mail to her supporters: "God that can do anything but fail has found favor with this child of his ... HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH!"

“the judge ruled that all legislative acts by local lawmakers are “protected.” That means the state prosecutor cannot use votes on bills as evidence in criminal cases.”

Old Law Helps Dixon, Holton Avoid Charges

[The ruling centered on the little-known but centuries-old legal precedent of legislative immunity, which protects lawmakers from seeing their official work used against them in civil or criminal cases. The doctrine has proved controversial, particularly among federal prosecutors who have been stymied by it in numerous public corruption cases.]

How convenient.

I would bet that their is a political patronage trail that would find its’ way to this Judge. Baltimore politics is not much better than Chicago politics.

Total BS rationale. The only way to stop political corruption is to get rid of that horse turd.

Something is definitely going on, but what that “something” is - who knows. All we can determine at this point is that justice is not being served.

I agree with you regarding Chicago and Baltimore, btw. Bal’more is just another liberal, East Coast, big city canker sore.

Yet laws preventing gay marriage are so outdated and old-fashioned...
