According to a story in today's Sun by Brent Jones, Phoenix, is in stable condition at an unnamed hospital in Pennsylvania. Sounds like the next few days will be touch and go as she fights potential infections and other burn-related issues. In case anyone missed yesterday's stories, someone in Southwest Baltimore doused the 1-year-old pit bull puppy with gasoline and set her on fire. A police office saw her in flames and put the fire out with a sweater. There is a $1,000 reward being offered for information on who might have done that to the dog. Unleashed will try to keep you posted on Phoenix's condition and related news.

Knowing the searing pain that even a minor burn causes - it is heartbreaking to think that someone would do this to any living creature. It is chilling to know that people like this live among us.
If it wasn’t Chet99 then it ws probably Star Traveler, after all, setting a dog on fire is no worse than seting a piece of sheet rock on fire, according to him.
Whoever did this was sick.
But, then, so are pit bull owners.
You said — If it wasnt Chet99 then it ws probably Star Traveler, after all, setting a dog on fire is no worse than seting a piece of sheet rock on fire, according to him.

Well, I wouldn’t say that for myself. I’ve got four little weenie dogs (not vicious or anything, but dogs nonetheless...). You would never find me doing anything like that...
But, I think what you’re referring to, is that I was saying that criminal sentences are out of whack, when someone can murder a person and be in jail for 7 - 10 years, and then another person get life in prison for killing a dog.
I pointed out that a dog (or any animal) is anything close to being worth anywhere the same as murdering a human being. That’s basically “devaluing” the murder of a human being to put a dog on that same level.
And also, I believe I was saying that I believed in killing animals since I belonged to “PETA” — which is for me “People for Eating Tasty Animals”...
And actually, in that light, I believe there are a lot of other people who likewise believe in killing animals, since I think there are a lot of “meat-eaters” around here... LOL...
Perhaps that’s what you’re talking about...
Well, you did ping me, but not ole Chet99... :-)
Hey, I am a Pit Bull owner.
My daughter and her active duty husband are also Pit Bull owners.
I doubt you, and most of the other Pit Bull haters here, have ever known an actual Pit Bull Dog.
I wonder if one of the pit bull haters will link this on a future thread about a pit bull attack?
I’m not a huge fan of pit bulls, but this is disgusting.
In regards to a dog being tortured and beaten to death with a hammer, Star Traveler:
“And, as for dogs and cats or any animals no, I wouldnt count them any more than I would count beating a hole in the sheetrock at a house, or busting out the car windows or breaking up a piece of equipment as being equated to something on the level of a person...
If I was on a jury, and thats what came before me, and I knew that pizza or a dog or whatever like that would lead to life in prison that would generate a not guilty verdict from me... if they are going to maintain that kind of law...”
Setting fire to a dog, setting fire to sheetrock, no big deal.
Who ever would do this is dangerous to anyone around them, animal or human.
Well, my post says it pretty clearly like I said before, there’s no comparison of dogs and animals to people. They don’t even rank in the same ballpark.
You’ll note that I said — “... as being equated to something on the level of a person...”
And you’ll note that I said, in that other post about criminal sentences — that there was no way that someone would get *anything* like life in prison. That’s the stupidest thing I have ever heard of — where one kind of criminal gets 5 to 7 years for murdering a person, and another gets life in prison for killing a dog. Too stupid to be alive to believe that one.
Sorry, no go for me...
I’m for killing animals and eating them. I’m a full-fledged member of PETA — “People for Eating Tasty Animals”... and I’m not going to join any of those earth-first or enviro-whackos or the animal-lovers above people groups...
LOL...
Where is this law that says killing a dog is punishable by life in prison? You have yet to answer that question.
That’s what my comments were about on that other post... LOL... in case you didn’t read it. That’s what the thread was about.
Someone was getting life in prison for killing a dog... and like I said, that’s “too-stupid-to-be-alive sentence...
—
For me, a person killing someone gets either life in prison or the death sentence. A person killing a dog has to pay for property — as that’s what a dog is, the property of the owner.
And I have always maintained that anyone damaging property, or killing someone’s property should be absolutely required for paying for that. You don’t damage someone’s property and get away with that. But, that’s not life in prison... LOL...
As for me, I like to kill animals and eat them and I think there are a lot of other people who like to kill animals and eat them. The only thing is that I don’t go killing someone else’s property.
Someone was getting life in prison for killing a dog... and like I said, thats too-stupid-to-be-alive sentence...
Why not answer the question? Is the punishment for killing a dog life in prison, or isn’t it. What does the law say?

That’s what the other thread was talking about, the law that said the guy was going to get life in prison for killing a dog...
That’s stupid beyond belief... LOL...
Just pay for the stupid dog and some damages and be done with it...
“...the law that said the guy was going to get life in prison for killing a dog...”
You keep alluding to a law that says that the punishment forkilling a dog is life imprisonment, but you refuse to tell me what law you’re talking about?
Gee, why won’t you answer the simple question and tell us all what law say’s that killing a dog is punishable byt life in prison.
Could it be because, as you know, there is no such law that you claim exists?
What State has this law? What does the law say, exactly?
Either way, you equate the bashing in of a dog’s head with a hammer to making a hole in a piece of sheetrock.
I feel sorry for you.
Hey, I didn;t post it on that other thread about that stupid law where a guy was going to prison for life for killing a dog. That thread was posted by someone else. You’ll have to ask them about the law.
As for me, I said I’m a member of PETA (People for Eating Tasty Animals) and I killed animals and ate them. I’m not one of those enviro-whackos or one of those “animals-are-better-than-people” crazies... LOL...
As far as a person’s property is concerned, if someone damages it or whatever, then they need to compensate you for your property loss. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a piece of sheetrock or a dog — it’s the same thing.
But, this crazy idea that some people have that animals are on the same level as people is plain stupid...
