Now that idea of a big part of the north being occupied by China ala east germany, while not ever taking on US forces? I *can* see that. And i think they are rational. I keep hearin about suicidal North Korea and Iran. Their leaders are more than suicidal for their soldiers, but they are only about remaining in despotic power at home. This requires an external threat, but not an actual war.

A war means the end of him. He has not the slightest intent to fight Obama. He simply knows he can make a threat, and the shiploads of rice, oil and cash will soon start arriving.

He has played this game since the late 80s. He always ramps it up when a democrat is in. I love that story that Bill Clinton was hours away from a full-on air raid on North Korea until Carter made that deal. SURE you were slick willie. You were JUST about to launch a conventional preemptive attack on the north.

Just my take on it,,and im not married to it, but i think (and hope!)im right.

No, you’re probably right that this is just another game of chicken with the west. Still, it does seem like we’re at the threshold here with another nuclear test, far more sophisticed missile launches, and now a revocation of the cease fire and Kim allegedly looking for a successor. It all makes for an unstable situation. I don’t think China will jump in headfirst, but they could easily extend their long crooked finger in a covert way. There is another possibility too. The U.S. is bogged down in Afghanistan and Iraq. If you add North Korea to the mix, and put the squeeze on U.S. oil, say maybe having Iran send some ships into the Strait of Hormuz (happened this week), and Venezuela stopping production, it provides the perfect timing for China to grab Taiwan, and we all know they’re crazy enough to do that.
