...she was not invited to join President Obama and France's president, Nicolas Sarkozy, next week at commemorations of the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy... The queen, who is 83, is the only living head of state who served in uniform during World War II. As Elizabeth Windsor, service number 230873, she volunteered as a subaltern in the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service, training as a driver and a mechanic. Eventually, she drove military trucks in support roles in England.
Thanks, Civ.

Nothing can compare to the DDay commemoration when Ronald Reagan gave his famous speech. Everyone I was with in France, French and American alike, had tears in their eyes.
IMO this is just another FUBAR by the leftist snake Gordon Brown. I don’t think this was a French government decision, but a British one. Gordon Brown is toxic, and he and his Labour Party will be out sooner or later, preferably sooner.
The Queen is a remarkable person who has lived a long and exemnplary life. For Gordon Brown to diss her is unforgiveable.
OTOH, Prince Harry will be visiting NY this week. Not DC.not Obama, but NY. He will lay a wreath at Ground Zero, and meet with the 911 families who are British. I guess Harry’s military background is more than Obama could deal with.
