not a surprise, as the cadre within the Vatican that favors Liberation Theology appears to be in the ascendancy.

Do you have any evidence for your claim that "liberation theology" and its "Vatican cadre" are in the ascendant. Provide your evidence if you have any.

Be sure to explain how your evidence fits into a tapestry of the late John Paul the Great going personally to a meeting of the Latin American Conference of Bishops to specifically condemn liberation theology with the assistance of Dario Cardinal Castrillon de Hoyos of Coluimbia, then the secretary of that bishop's conference, the role of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger (then the Chairman of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and now Pope Benedict XVI in silencing the major "liberation theologians"), John Paul the Great's visit to Daniel Ortega's Sandanista Nicaragua to directly and personally order the priests in Ortega's cabinet to leave public political life consistent with longstanding Canon Law requiring priests and nuns not to engage in seeking or holding public office.
