I marched in a Memorial Day parade with my son who is a Cub Scout. I got choked up and a bit teary-eyed when I saw an elderly vetran struggle to get up out of his wheelchair to give the American flag a most respectful, crisp salute. It absolutely breaks my heart to hear stories like this when I think about the countless men and women who died for our freedoms.
Where is America? My grandchildren will never know the great nation I grew up in and loved with all my heart.
