The New York Times reported that in 2001, at the annual Judge Mario G. Olmos Law and Cultural Diversity Lecture, Sotomayor had this to say:
I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasnt lived that life.
Before you dismiss that statement, read it this way: I would hope that a wise white man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a Latin female who hasnt lived that life.
