We actually dodged a bullet here. Sotomayor may actually be an improvement over the bathroom trolling deviant that she is replacing.

I was particularly concerned that we might have got Kagan.

Sotomayor is older, diabetic and not nearly as bad ideologically as Kagan.

The GOP should just take this one. Kagan is Far Far worse.

What makes you think there’s anything not radical about Sotomayor ideologically?

You are so wrong it ain’t funny. It’s a mistake to look at this in terms of ideology.

The reason the right should be happy with this pick is her attitude. As I said before, Kagan would’ve been the smarter choice for Obama. Based on your earlier response to me in a different thread, what you fail to realize is how a justice’s personality influences Justice Kennedy. Kagan is the left’s Roberts in terms of personality. She is friendly to the other side in an attempr to win them over. Kagan could probably pull Kennedy to the left.Sotomayor, on the other hand, has an abrasive personzlity that may, over the course of a few terms, push Kennedy to the right.

That is why conservatives should be pleased with this pick.

Also in addition to the comments I made in post 240, I must point out that your depiction of Kagan as some lefty loon and Sotomayor as more reasonable is misleading. Sotomayor is obsessed by race and her opinions will be solidly left wing with a tinge of racism.

I agree with you. Take Sotomayer and be glad. There is always the chance he chose her, hoping she would not be confirmed, then he could choose Kagan and say he chose a more moderate choice first, but she was rejected. Be careful what you ask for fellow FReepers.
