I am just assuming these people are Gitmo for a valid reason; that our people did their due diligence before putting them there.
I also assume that our current administration is doing many reckless and irresponsible things.
Uyghurs are part of the Islamic world revolution—that spells terror.
Including these jihadis with other political movements of the past is disingenuous.
Individually?
The problem is these people do not behave as individuals once they become infected as muslims. They become jihadi oriented.
Dangerously nihilistic.
Here’s where I see a difference. Uyghurs in China, and Caucasus peoples in and next to Russia, are primarily motivated by a desire for independence and nationhood. Islam’s role historically has been to provide a unifying force, and a way to gain allies with neighboring countries against the primary expansionist adversaries, China or Russia.
We should be sympathetic to peoples who do not want to be trampled and absorbed by China and Russia. Remember, it was not too long ago that Europe, Ukraine, Georgia and Tibet were threatened. We know what happened to Tibet and to dozens and dozens of now-nameless peoples in Russia; the jury is out on many other such countries.
Although the jihadi individuals in custody were fighting against us, their main beef may not be with us (in spite of all the world-jihadi unity talk).
So, let’s not throw them all under the bus as a group, but entertain the idea that some of them are really fighting for their own country’s independence.
The historical evidence shows nothing of the kind. To the contrary it is these islamic people who have been expansionist for hundreds of years attacking and invading Russia more recently, and China.
They follow the precepts of the cult book, motivated by hate and Islamic fervor. They are historically the first aggressive Al Quaeda having caused untold death and destruction over the last 1000 years. This latest “movement” is but the latest in a long line of expanionistic moves, terror which the peoples in Eurasia/Asia have not forgotten.
They must be detroyed not coddled like the west is doing.
Let’s talk about Russia. Modern Russia was formed by expansionist steam-rollering of dozens of non-Russian nationalities. In the face of that, Islam sounds like a good way to gather allies and build opposition to the empire.
Let’s talk about China. The Uyghur territory in China is not Chinese; has no reason to be Chinese. In the face of that, Islam sounds like a good way to gather allies and build opposition to the empire.
Islam’s expansion against neighbors who do not seek to attack Islam is something different.
So the question is, “Is Islam so virulent and unacceptable that we must oppose it, even when it serves a defensive purpose?”
“Modern Russia was formed by expansionist steam-rollering of dozens of non-Russian nationalities”
Modern Russia? Are you referring to imperial Russia before the Bolsheviks took over with the help of Germany and other western communists? (And as you know the leadership of the bolsheviks were mostly NOT Russian and absolutely NOT Orthodox Christian.)
If you are referring to Imperial Russia then most if not all expansions were done in the name of securing its borders against invading hordes: Mongols, Turks, etc.
As for China, the Turk-Hun-Uyghur tribes have been invading, killing for centuries. After 9-11 China declared an alliance with the US against terrorism. The uyghurs responded by sending their scum to Afghanistan and who knows where else.
As for your question:
Is Islam so virulent and unacceptable that we must oppose it, even when it serves a defensive purpose?
MY answer is Unequivocally eternally YES! The Ugyurs/Turks need to mind their own business and should be content to being treated far better than Christians are in Muslim infested nations.
W/r/t Russia: In the imperial period, Russia expanded east and occupied the lands of many small nationalities. The forced cultural assimilation of these nationalities occurred in the 20th century, and maybe before.
Since you appear to be interested and may have knowledge about this, perhaps you can offer an opinion about the reasons, from Russia’s perspective, for Russia’s invasion/extermination/genocide of Circassians (a nationality in the Caucasus, also known as Adyghe) in the mid-19th century.
Actually, Circassian tribes were once loyal to Russia but then succumbed to the dark side of islam, the worst kind: the kind that ottoman turks used to attack and plunder and destroy.
After years of horrible attacks and savagery commited by these tribes, the Circassian tribes were defanged.
We thank Russia for its service to humanity.
You need to study up on the savagery that the Russian people have endured over the years at the hands of invading Muslims.
As for the Russo-Caucasian war again read up on that.
These terrorists centers have their origins and sponsors in the parastate of Turkey and Pakistan at the bottom of page 46
