Yo, California! How's liberalism working out for ya?
KnoxNews.com ^ | 5-24-09 | Greg Johnson

The enlightened state on America's left coast governed by the Terminator may need a little CGI to maintain its illusion of prosperity. While Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was larger than life in a big screen cameo in Terminator Salvation last week, his budget proposals proved puny and 5 of his 6 fiscal proposals were voted down decisively.

In every area, from taxes to social policy to spending to environmental policy, California leans hard left. And now the nation's most progressive state faces a $21 billion deficit that may eventually be plugged by Washington which means, of course, that those states and taxpayers who managed their budgets conservatively will again be bailing out the irresponsible.

NewYork is broke, too. So is New Jersey. Their liberal sister states of Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Minnesota and Oregon plan to raise taxes on the wealthy - the Barack Obama Option, or BOO as I'd like to call it - which at least a couple of commentators recognize as foolish.

So, to my sophisticated, progressive friends in those states and for those begging for the BOO option across America, based on the empirical evidence so readily at hand, how's that liberalism working out for ya?

Any CA FR people have idea how Arnuld is going to close the money gap. I think he was betting on a bailout from Hussein but the Islamo-marxist said we are out of money.

I understand that California’s economy is in the tank. That business is leaving every day, that unemployment is rising, that people are squashed beneath the heaviest taxes in the nation, that crime is on the rise, that the budget is broke and going deeper in the red every day, but why is this bad? As I understand it, it’s exactly how socialism works. You spend other people’s money until it’s gone. They have reached utopia. The question is “now what?”. Socialism never moves past this point. Come on California Socialists’, move to the next step. Stop crying and making a fuss. Show us how it works and stop looking at Federal funds to bail it out. Socialism either works or doesn’t...

The question is “now what?”

Try reading the article.

Proposition 1A failed in every county, from the bluest to the reddest.

At least the author was perceptive enough to notice the biggest tax revolt in modern history took place in Cal last week.

I'd say it's not working out very well for the big gov liberals here.

Just a wild guess though.

Let’s hope it translates into huge loses in 2010 for the democrats and RINO’s. Time to put in conservative leadership from the top down to the bottom.

I sure hope that you are right and California Sheeple will realize the serious consequences of letting these Libs,.... both Repubs and Demorats determine the fate of all the citizens of this once great state.

As a Cal born and raised Conservative, I feel for those remaining who must bear the burden of the above Lib/union actions. However, 68 years were enough for me.
So, for now Aloha and Mahalo

I was in LA a couple of weeks ago. The only thing it needs to look like Detroit is snow.

Well, we had all better keep an eye on Obama...he does seem to be trying to bring America in line with California!

I would suggest that if this spending nonsense does not stop now, we (the United States) will be California!

The re-writing of bankruptcy laws to protect the unions, taking over private industry, spending money by borrowing well into the future, the upcoming decline in our rating (with the associated higher interest rates) - all are extremely worrisome to the point of revolution.

When will the bubble burst?

Heh...along with New York, New Jersey, Maryland, and a few others.... Wistful thinking, but maybe we could beat them into submission - a minor voter revolution would suffice.

"Socialism either works or doesn’t...'

Well..... as we all know from history,......... it doesn't! ,p> But if your waiting on California commie libs to admit that it doesn't; your wasting your time.

Liberalism has nothing to do with reality, and their own idealism fosters delusional behavior.

It's a mental illness you know.

"When will the bubble burst?"

It already has, but the vast majority of the folks haven't noticed just yet.

But what's really astounding to me is the fact that so many of our own politicians are also in denial, and are unaware that their own sorry rear ends are fixing to receive a massive boot from the collective.

Despite the defeat of these Propositions, the voters will elect a Liberal Democrat Governor in the next election that will make Arnold look like Reagan.

I am surrounded by clueless Fools and Idiots.

“When will the bubble burst?”

Damn, I hope you’re right! My bubble (and my family’s) has burst long ago! All are just aghast at what is going on with the destruction of Capitalism and America’s future. It’s probably only because the MSM is so socialist that many people do not understand the problem yet. Hopefully, their impending demise will wake them - but doubtful...oh well, hope the internet survives.
