McCain was the “dream” candidate for liberal Republicans. If he was not liberal enough then the republican party is NOT FOR YOU.
If the Marxist Socialist Democrat, B. OBAMA was more to your liking then the left wing of the Democratic party is for you.

It worked in 2006. It worked even better in 2008 , didn't it?

Anytime you have a political party with no spine go against a political party with no principles aided by an electorate with no intelligence the results are disastrous.

As far as Powell and the MSM are concerned, in 2006 and 2008, it worked to perfection.

I had not thought of it that way, but you are correct.

Powell is a moderate Republican who says he endorsed Democrat Barack Obama over Republican John McCain for president because he thought Obama was the better candidate.

Except what he said on his vaunted, set up MTP moment with Tom Brokaw, he was voting for 0bama specifically because McCain and the GOP were getting "narrower", he griped about Ayres, claiming it was inappropriate to link him to 0bama, only to have 0bama and Ayres later admit they'd been lying about their relationship. He also said a reason was Palin wasn't "ready to be president." (I'll bet she wouldn't vomit out TS info, let the world know where the secret bunker is, violate the law as Biden has). Apparently Powell seems to believe that the rest of us are as gullible and naive as the Washington Elite.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says he's still a Republican, but the party needs to change and be more inclusive.

This charge is one I've yet to have anyone prove or defend -- just who is it that is/has not been allowed to register and vote as a member of the GOP? What citizen has been denied his entry into the Republican Party based on this *litmus test* these non-conservative, won't uphold the principles of less government folks keep bleating about??

Beck had a graphic on his tv show last week, it's not only the GOP who is losing membership. But I won't hold my breath waiting for the lamestream to point out the Dems are losing people in droves as well. These people are paying no attention whatever to what is going on in America, but then, that is due to their wearing glasses with the mirrors on the inside of the lenses.

He’s absolutely right. We need to change back to what we were in the 80’s and include anyone who agrees with our principles.

I'm not even sure why Colin is trying so hard to be a GOP... that doesn't mean much these day... one thing for sure... Powell is NOT a conservative!!

I would love to ask Colon Powell one question - “Can you name ANY republican you would vote for over Barack Obama?”

Excellent and if we had anything close to a decent news media that question WOULD have been asked. But the news media (Mainstream) is essentially a subsidiary of the Democratic Party. They are pathetic. And so is Colon Powell. Affirmative Action to the core.

The Reagan Administration should never have brought him into government. He would have retired as a Lt. Colonel or maybe Colonel. We wouldn't have even known his name today. Affirmative Action always seems to come back and bite you in the *ss. And to think there was a serious effort by some to push this guy for president back in 1996 and 2000. I wonder what those people think now. I just as soon have Oprah as president as Powell. The guy is a snake.

Well, well, the picture gets a tad clearer about Powell. Voted for Carter??? That’s all I needed to hear. How did this guy ever get to such a high position in the GOP as Secretary of State? If you notice, youll never see the dems appoint someone to a leadership post who voted for Reagan or W or Nixon or whoever.

That’s what I don’t get. McCain was probably by far the most inclusive of any GOP nominee arguably ever. He’s mister hispanic, he’s mr bipartisan working with Feigold and Liberman and Kennedy and any other dem who will come down the pike, he was the media’s best friend and would show up anywhere, never afriad to bash his own party. And he was the first Republican to ever deem a member of the majority sex and voting bloc in this country worthy of being on a national ticket.

Besides, who’s Powell to talk about being inclusive? Wasn’t he one the of top Army guys back in 1993 who made it their business to stop Clinton’s gays in the military in its tracks. Really being inclusive, there, General. I guess Schieffer didn’t bring up that example of Powell;s inclusiveness.

I also wonder if his Army background makes him prejudiced against women. As a longtime Army guy, Powell was probably offended at the thought of a woman as vice President or god forbid, commander in chief.

The real question is: “Did Powell vote AGAIN for Carter the second time around?”.
