Auburn, NY - So how did Auburn, a small Upstate New York city of about 28,000 people manage to land Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, one of the biggest names in American politics, to participate in a fledgling civic celebration that wasn't even a concept six months ago?

It’s about an hour’s drive from our house.
We’ll be there!

Auburn will have a population considerably larger than 28,000 that day.

I note that the iconographers of our culture, the news photographers, make a strenuous efforts to demonize Sarah with unflattering camera angles, etc. We know who we are supposed to hate, when our betters use these kinds of devices to gently lead us simpletons along the road to socialist enlightenment.

How much sheer talent, and consecrated dedication to one’s vocation, does it require to take an ugly photo of such a lovely woman?

Earlier from The Post-Standard: Sarah Palin agrees to come to Auburn for Founders Day.

To pal with Palin:
Call the Seward House at 315-252-1283 for tickets to the reception to meet Gov. Sarah Palin. General admission tickets are $100. For $250, ticket holders can have their photo taken with the governor.

We’ll be there!

We'll be expecting a report from you afterward, and if you don't all of your Glenfiddich will be taken away!
Have a great time, Scotswife!

She’ll be in NY on the 6th and the big NRSC fundraiser is in DC on the 8th. John Cornyn and the NRSC could have had the Governor for the event, but they were too busy being a_holes. Instead they get Newt....zzzzzzz.

I sometimes wonder if she just didn’t want to go to the NRSC fundraiser, wanting to keep the beltway types at arms length. She agreed to be part of the new group, but has made no effort to actually get involved, yet anyway. But, has come out in defense of Steele who has been under attack. She’s maintaining her outsider image, I’d say. You’ll notice too, that the Auburn visit, the IGHL event in Long Island the next day, are both fundraisers, as was the Evansville event. Yet, she hasn’t held any SarahPAC fundraisers, or any GOP fundraisers. Makes me wonder if SarahPAC is doing well without a real active fundraising effort.

This explains it all ... she’s not running for President...
like Romney and Gingrich. I don’t think she’s even thinking about it right now.

Not attending the NRSC event is a great decision in hindsight, no doubt about it. Maintaining her outsider status is her ticket to national office. She knows it, pros like Dick Morris (who told her that very thing 2 years ago) know it, we all know it. The problem with that is that it makes it difficult for her to recruit professionals she can trust to help her. How she handles that will be key.

Ever since Becki Donatelli was fired and SarahPAC pulled back to Alaska, things are going much more smoothly but I have no idea what to expect with the fundraising numbers. They've made little to no effort to promote it beyond some internet ads and one (1) mass e-mailing to SarahPAC registrants.

At noon, she’s giving a speech for the general public. I can’t wait to go listen to her.
