The woman accused of raping and murdering 8-year-old Sandra Cantu of Tracy is facing new charges alleging that she poisoned a 7-year-old girl and a man in the months before Sandra died . ...

In a complaint filed Thursday, prosecutors charged Huckaby with poisoning the 7-year-old girl, identified only as Jane Doe, on Jan. 17. That's the day that a woman at the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park said her daughter had apparently been drugged with muscle relaxants during a visit with Huckaby....

Huckaby was also charged with drugging a man identified as Daniel Plowman on March 2.

The substance was not identified, but the complaint said Huckaby "did willfully and unlawfully mingle a harmful substance with food or drink."

Huckaby, who is the mother of one of Sandra Cantu's playmates, was arrested April 10 and charged with murder, along with three special circumstances that make her eligible for execution if convicted. Prosecutors have not decided whether to pursue the death penalty

I don't see this one as a tough decision.

Knowing that local government have a cash crunch, I'm betting they are "thinking about it" because death penalty cases cost more money to prosecute.

I’m sure her mental health is playing heavily into that decision. It would be a waste of resources to seek the death penalty knowing in advance that underlying psychosis will be brought up as mitigating factors during sentencing.

she seems to be “batsh-t crazy and holding down a full time
job.” although i guess she had been fired from her old job.
I think family knew she was nuts and grandparents were suppose
to keep eye on her.

I don’t care if she’s nuts;the little girl is no less dead for being killed by a crazy. And I say that if you can hold a full time job then you are sane enough to exute.

Indeed it did. She is currently in a State mental facility about 5 miles from my house. *shiver*
