I think the problem is that even if you’re a Republican, you might not be a conservative.

Randall Hoven is a former member of Dick Cheney's secret special death squad. He was involved in the assassinations of Lebanese Prime Minister Rafique Al Hariri and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, among others. He is ready to confess all, for a seven figure book deal. He can be reached at randall.hoven@gmail.com. LOL!

And that’s a bad thing?

It defines conservative but not necessarily republican. The last 8 years - and some would argue longer - have seen a redefinition of the GOP to make people like Specter and Snow welcome. Last year was the crowning achievement of this movement with someone like McCain winning the nomination.
Many conservatives view McCain's landslide defeat as confirmation that this direction of the GOP has been an abysmal failure. But the misguided who have maneuvered the GOP in this direction believe with all their hearts that they were right and that it was the downturn in the stock market that prevented a McCain victory.
Unfortunately, those who profess this view of the GOP tend to represent the most undesirable of the political element and have entrenched themselves in the seats of influence. They know that this fight that will occur over the next several years will determine their political viability.
